Failed supernovae (where the star survives its own supernova then collapses completely) happen closer to around 30 solar masses; the form of direct collapse that happens at a few hundred solar masses doesn't involve a supernova and is actually really interesting - the temperature and luminosity of the core gets so extreme that thermal gamma rays emitted cause photodisintegration of the heavy elements produced by earlier fusion, and being the exact inverse reaction to said fusion, consumes energy instead of releasing it. Basically, the core gets so hot it starts un-fusing stuff, undoing all of the work fusion does to support the star, and as it implodes the rates of photodisintegration only increase further, causing an endothermic chain reaction where the star essentially just spontaneously freezes from the inside out collapsing the entire object into a black hole

4:08 you're actually kinda wrong here. Magnetorotational instability does clump them together. It kinda slows them down and inner particles lose angular momentum to spiral inwards while the outer particles receive that momentum and stretch the disk

I was reading an article on mars and how some are starting to think that an impact similar to how they think our moon formed also happened to mars early on in the solar systems history. So mars had an atmosphere, liquid water on the surface maybe oceans, and at some point there was enough free oxygen in the atmosphere to rust exposed iron deposits hence the red color, which to me says life was there. Our rovers have taken pictures of iron meteorites on the surface of mars that havent rusted in the centuries theyve been sitting on the surface, so whatever was producing the oxygen that rusted all that iron in the past is gone now which again says life was there. But still today we detect seasonal methane blooms, indicative of life, but anaerobic life. We have them here on earth where they form the base of the food chain at hydrothermal vents, theyre also present deepn in the crust and some show up at whale falls in the deep oceans where they consume the inorganic material of the whales skeleton

I'd always thought that if planets forming around big black holes exist, there may also be even metallic brown dwarfs and metallic stars around even larger ones (like TON 618* and Phoenix A*).

I love how crazy the universe is and how many different objects and environments it seems to be able to produce, at least theoretically speaking. Every day it seems like our expectations of what our universe is like is rewritten by crazy new discoveries and science papers. Great video!

I'm an astrophysicists studying GC Giant Molecular Clouds -- I don't touch exoplanets in my own work (we're instead interested in the X-ray and broadband outburst history of Sgr A*), but this is quite an interesting video.

All of those objects are son insanely interesting, and there are absolutely no easily digestible info on this subject except your video. Those planets and star types are insanely cool, imagine the world building you could do with that. Imagine if it was added to space engine ! Someone need to make that mod !
