River Operating Conditions Tow Size Restrictions Forecasts of rising river levels on the Lower Mississippi River indicate that we could soon be in tow-size restrictions. River Conditions: Mississippi River: While river levels are falling are falling in St. Louis and Cape Girardeau, we see levels on a rising trend from Memphis down through Baton Rouge. Current projections indicate that the river will crest in Memphis around June 1-2, followed by a slow fall. Lock Outages: Arkansas River: -There will be multiple closures on the Arkansas River throughout 2026. Please reach out to MississippiDispatch@IngramBarge.com for additional information. Ohio River: -Emsworth Lock Closure (OH 6.2): Primary Chamber repairs and Auxiliary Chamber restrictions –Closure set for 4/27 – 9/4 -Cannelton Lock Closure (OH 720): The Aux. chamber will be closed for repairs to the emergency gate. — Closure set for 5/5 – 6/19/26 Cumberland River: -Barkley Lock will be closed to make repairs to the miter gates. Traffic may pass by taking the alt. route via KY Lock and Barkley Canal. –Closure set for 7/22 – 9/30 Tennessee River: -Kentucky Lock will be closed Monday, June 15, 2026 through Monday, June 29, 2026 to facilitate downstream miter gate gearbox replacement Gulf Activity: Calcasieu lock is expected to close for repairs beginning in May, 2026. We expect significant delays at this lock while repairs are ongoing. River gauges in Baton Rouge and New Orleans are on the rise, expected to crest around April 17-18.
