Former APS secretary Andrew Metcalfe has defended the federal government’s only university in a hostile Senate estimates hearing.
Currently acting chancellor, Metcalfe gave the Senate’s employment, education and employment committee a comprehensive update on investigations into the Australian National University (ANU).
Vivienne Thom gave the council the results of her investigation into bullying allegations against former chancellor Julie Bishop in April, with the council responding to the recommendations in May.
It found maladministration related to the ANU’s grievance procedures amounted to “disclosable conduct”.
