~Story~
The year is 866 of the Neo-Inemian Calendar.
After centuries of fighting demonic beings known as Spirits, mankind is able to attain a fragile peace through its adventurers. The guilds now control the land and its people.
But the spirits of old do not fade. Investigating a series of disappearances, three adventurers are thrust into an ancient land where forgotten deities and demons await.
~Gameplay~
In The Nian-Xi Chronicles: Prelude, you explore through a series of mazes in a First Person perspective, encountering spirits at any turn and finding treasure scattered about.
Combat is frenetic, with actions performed immediately and an emphasis on striking weaknesses. Doing so rewards players with Boost - a bonus to all attacks and the possibility to alter certain skill for extra effects. Beware, this applies to the enemy too!
Players are able to gain skills at will with the Skill Learn System. With hundreds of skills available per character, you can customize each one of them to fit any role.
Will you survive this prelude...?
Features
- The Boost System turns battles into fast-paced arms races. Neither side must falter.
- Hundreds of skills per character allow you to create the perfect adventurer.
- Five massive floors with many events, quests and bosses waiting for you
- Over 50 uniquely drawn enemies, representing beasts and deities from all over the world
- A 10 hour prelude to a much grander tale.

Afterword
Thank you for reading up to this point! I hope you give The Nian-Xi Chronicles: Prelude a chance.
This is jUn (stylized as such for unknown reasons). I've been a huge fan of DRPGs (Dungeon RPGs) for a long time, nearly a decade at this point. I was introduced to it via the likes of Etrian Odyssey, of which EO1 is my favorite game ever, but it was more classic/hardcore titles like The Dark Spire and Wizardry that made me fall in love with the genre. Even so, I feel that up to this day it's nowhere near as recognized as it should be. Partly because of how daunting its games can be.
As a result, I wanted Nian-Xi Prelude to serve as a bridge between modern and old-school DRPGs. Surviving a large maze where each step could lead to a dangerous encounter, rationing a limited supply of MP and items and knowing when to escape. These are core aspects I wanted to keep for Prelude, while also adding modern features (Skill Learn, difficulty settings, etc.) and a robust combat system to ease newcomers in.
This is actually my first RM game, so I'll be attentive to any and all feedback. Once again, thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy The Nian-Xi Chronicles: Prelude!
