On June 7, 2026, Chinese media Red Star News reported that a university professor, whose book was suspected of being written using artificial intelligence (AI) and received low ratings, denied using AI, claiming it was the result of five years of research.

According to the article, a new book titled "Fanquan Jishi" by Professor Ma Zhonghong (Ma Zhonghong) and others from Suzhou University in Jiangsu Province is suspected online of being "written by AI," with its rating on book review sites reaching 5.4 out of 10 points and a low rating rate of 55%, leading to it being "under fire."

Internet users have successively pointed out issues such as the overuse of symbols, a string of meaningless adjectives, and unnatural metaphors, raising suspicions that the characteristics of the writing closely resemble AI-generated content.

However, Professor Ma clearly denied this to Red Star News, stating, "To be frank, we did not write it with AI." He explained that "we began writing before AI became widespread" and expressed his pride, saying, "We spent five years on research and conducted a lot of fieldwork."

Professor Ma stated, "Initially, I wrote it in a narrative style, but as a result of incorporating an academic perspective, it became the current writing style." He also explained that his preference for meticulous expressions and parallelism, based on his literary background, led to his unique writing style. He further presented his view that "our high level of language control was misunderstood as being close to AI writing. We can guarantee that we revised it many times."
