You can use paratroopers to build some pretty nutty rally points. I dropped onto the roof of that large train building on Berlin conquest and built a rally point that the enemies couldn't destroy all match long. It accrued a lot of points for me. Steel mill is also good for paratrooper rallies. A lot of the Berlin maps with tall destroyed buildings are likewise good for paratrooper rallies and the Berlin conquest map with the super long and super tall building you can build a rally point that is impossible for the enemy to get to unless they also use paratroopers.

This whole situation is predicated on a misunderstanding of how the practice range works, how tank damage works and how AT mines work.

1) Tanks in the practice range have no crew. As a result, they are harder to kill with certain weapons. Certain HE shells are less effective in the range for this reason.

2) AT mines don't do armour piercing damage. Just before detonation, they turn into an explosive pack and deal concussive damage to components and the crew. Generally speaking, they kill tanks by destroying the crew instantly, not by damaging components. The Ferdinand is similarly difficult to destroy in the practice range because it has so much armour, but in a match it will instantly die if it drives over a mine.

The crew isn't really "functional". Something else to note is that the Tiger II and Ferdinand have 40mm of stomach armour at the front, and only 25 in the engine compartment. If you place mines under them, you will notice that the engine tends to be destroyed or lit on fire where the front fighting areas are largely undamaged. The KVs have 30-35mm universally on the underside, which leads me to believe that AT mines probably have something like 30mm of flat concussive armour penetration or HE penetration, meaning that they can kill the Tigers through the engine bay, but not the front, and can't damage KVs reliably via "penetration".

The KV is really easy to kill with Panzerfausts and even relatively easy to kill with the Type 5. The issue is that it has a bizarre damage model regarding HE because it has a very consistently strong armour profile with no explicit weak spots.

I've mostly been doing it because of how restrictive tank squads are. I mean we've got three non-premium tank squads, and since squads take three re-spawns to be available again you can always keep a tank up, but you can't always keep a tier V tank up, but low tier tanks do have some perks.

The thing is sometimes you get lucky and the other team just has weak anti-tank. A lot of players just rely entirely on explosive packs or TNT which don't play any differently at top rank, and you'll pretty much never encounter AT rifles which are the real bane of light tanks.

Like an M8 Scott can't kill a King Tiger from the front, but you can knock out its gun and both tracks leaving it completely useless. And with how fast it can barf out HE rounds it can clear a capture point of infantry in seconds.

Because explosive packs also use concussive force. The KV hull has few, if any thinner sections of armour below a certain thickness for the concussive force to "slip" through. The thinnest armour on the KV is like 30mm, the thinnest on the Tiger is 25, and that's where the force "slips" through. If you lodge an explosive pack in the tracks of a Tiger II, the force blows up through the thinner overhanging sides and destroys the tank, which doesn't happen to the KV. A bit sad we lost this, but not surprised. Their best players were in a premade, we were down two guys, they had a lot of BR III gear and I was in BR II, and my team was generally just rather bad, where their team averaged out pretty well. The real issue was when a KV or T-34 would roll in and my team would just completely collapse because everybody panics, and their tanks had escorts a lot of the time and were really aggressive as a result. We made it to 100 tickets before a KV rolled in and everyone abandoned the cap.

Good payout though.

I'd wager I have used the Type 38 rifle more than anyone in /enlg/, but at this point I think I'd consider the BR II M1895 Winchester and Lee-Enfield No.4 better than it, tier-for-tier. The No.4 is about to be made almost completely redundant by the 4 or 5 Kretz rifles I'll have when the event is through, but that's neither here nor there.

As great as the M1 Carbine is, I still feel like the Enfields are the more "practical" guns. They are just so good for quickly wiping groups at long range reliably. Even the Kretz can't compare, very few guns actually can. Ten guaranteed kills in a row is hard to beat, even semi-autos can't top that.

Yeah, you can do that, sure.
Or you can magdump 15 rounds in seconds at everything that moves on the point, take cover for a second, then repeat until you die. Then do it again until either all the enemies are dead or all your walking extra lives are.
Ultimately, one of them has a much bigger impact on the match as a whole, and with the point changes, also rewards you more.

It's situational, yeah, but I just find it comforting to book people in one shot. The M1 Carbine is great for just retard facesmashing, that is true. The US is genuinely overloaded with great weapon choices so it can be hard to pick. Lewis ARs, Enfields, M1 Carbines, Kretz rifles, Thompsons.

I recently moved from BR2 to BR3 allies so I can use my sniper SMLEs and take my turn being the retarded blue enemy as I level my sniper III squad. My biggest complaint is that I wish I could set my brownings to be slow auto by default after getting used to the LARs.
Though at BR2, I used the M1 Carbines even before the buff. Ultimately, even at range, it doesn't matter if I dump an entire mag just to kill two guys. At 4+1 mags per soldier, that's 1-2 squads worth of enemies while furiously mashing LMB. Even if half my rounds go into dirt, the sheer volume of fire will win the day. I do combined arms with the Kretzes in case I need to make a really long range shot where the carbines start getting real bad falloff.

The BR1 Soviets planes do give you insane variety all the same.
You've got rockets, bombs, light machine guns, heavy machine guns, and almost every combination of those.

The only thing it's missing is a large caliber anti tank gun, although I haven't met anyone who's seen much success using the German anti tank sniping bomber.
