Hello everyone… It’s been awhile, hasn’t it? The project is, in fact, not dead. I am genuinely sorry for the lack of updates, and I really should’ve stayed on top of it. I let myself get lazy when it comes to this aspect of the project, and let it fall to the wayside for over a year.
However, we do notice we have been getting comments about us “running away with the KS money”. That most certainly was not our team, as we only received about $6k of the initial funds from Wittmann. We were given no explanation on where the rest of the KS money went, as it does not account for all of the assets we actually received. And, unfortunately, we are no longer able to contact Wittmann nor the previous writer for MWITF.
Alongside the $6k given to us, we have been paying out-of-pocket for the remaining work that still needs to be done, and will continue to do so. We understand the irritation surrounding the lack of updates, but we are not wasting any of the money we actually received from the previous team.

The Current Status of MWITF
Script work continues, with the writing team reaching the Mediterranean Front part of the story. Additionally, much of the African Front has been rewritten.

In the sprite department, we’ve had to change artists once again, as there were issues on requested modifications to the art that could not be met with the previous artist.
As such, we have had to re-do only a few sets of sprites (again) and have been able to focus on new sprites as well as finishing the sprite sets for all previously completed character sprites.

We can’t promise monthly updates, as there may not be content to put out each month. As such, we will instead be shifting towards putting out updates when sufficient progress has been made on the script OR when we have a new set of sprites or other art to show.
We’ll keep you guys updated from now on. Look forward to the next update when we have content to show.

Better an Update than leaving in silence like another certain VN Campaign I backed that has gone quiet 5 years and counting now...
I really hope you guys do finish this, I still think the game has a lot going for it and should be able to make solid money with a steam release - assuming good voice acting etc.
AI has come a long way since this project started, hope you've built it into your workflow. It's ramped up my productive capacity multiple times over.

Any chance I can donate more money? I genuinely think it's admirable you guys are still working on this, considering how the original studio delivered it to you.

What's baffling is that DEVGRU-P had a track record of putting out entertaining budget VNs before this one. That's why I thought it was a safe bet to back this. Then once they had serious money it all went to hell and now we're learning 80K of the funds are missing. Did they get scammed by their hired freelancers? Did Wittmann run off with the money? Guess we'll never know.
Let's just say COVID did a lot of damage. For example, the original character sprite artist just... disappeared (probably died) in 2020.
Either way, the current team is committed to finishing the project.
DEVGRU-P IIRC bit off far more than they could chew with things like L2D and full voice acting taking up all the money. Also didn't help that they were supposedly just dicking around in their private discord.
I had honestly written this off as a dead project and since I only put $20 in I wasn't too annoyed but it's good to hear y'all ate still trying to get it done.
What a weird situation, I don't think I even understand it. So, the original people handed the project over to your team, paid you 6k, then went MIA? Does that complicate publishing the game on steam, or is DEVGRU-P totally removed now that no one is in contact?
I'm still looking forward to the game, the idea of a comedy visual novel about dating waifu versions of genocidal leaders is next level. I do hope you have a writer who can tongue-in-cheek skirt how messed up the situation is like DEVGRU-P did with Stay!Stay!DPRK!

alright then, fair enough thank you for the transparency and giving us a heads up explanation on why monthly updates are no longer likely. I'll give you a second chance. all I want is assurance to know this game is coming out. I spent money on the $40 tier and I still would like to have my physical copy in addition to be autographed by the great comedian count dankula. if I have to wait this long I should be compensated with count dankula's autograph on my physical. do that and I'll be happy. you have my word. I am a simple man. Anyone excited for that announcement of that new steam game called Karen?
