Kampala — A LOUD thump said it all. The hand of death had struck, ending the life of a passionate man: A man, who was German, but touched the lives of so many Ugandans in his humanitarian work.
Joseph Rainer, 78, died recently in an accident at the Game Stores junction along the Kampala-Jinja Road. He had been shopping at the stores and as he joined the junction, a 12-tonne Isuzu truck swept him into the middle of the dual-carriage road, towards the Kyadondo Rugby Grounds, before being 'stopped' by electricity poles.
