As stated, def legit, here is my question, why are they not releasing 4 missing from the box set? Sticky, Some Girls, Exile & Goats (blue and lonesome is missing because it wasnt remastered at half speed anyway).

I just got the box set and its beautiful. not sure when I will get around to spin them though.

Re: the Stones and the Grrrr Gorilla imagery:

Jim Dickinson in 1975, jokingly called the Stones' music "gorilla music," as told to Robert Palmer in Rolling Stone. Also Keith has been known to occasionally do the King Kong chest-beating gesture onstage, while taking momentary breaks from playing his guitar, it's been part of his schtick for years. I can't find a link, but I know I've seen him do it on video before, in a moment where he knew the camera was on him. So probably the whole King Kong thing is something of a deep in-joke, inside the Stones.

Looks like Amazon has two digital versions (deluxe and single) that now include the new single (Living in a Ghost Town) as the starting track.
No songs have been omitted, so 47 for the deluxe and 21 for the single.

The single disc cd 20 track version is on sale for a whopping $2.82 plus tax with Prime free shopping.
I bought one for the home stereo and one for the car, there is a limit of two per household.

Update, most on songs seem to be single or edited versions on this single disc release, but for less than 3 bucks for a new cd I cannot complain.

Jump Back (1993 Virgin release) will still be my go to to a single disc later day collection, I like my old Rewind disc as well, since it includes Hang Fire and Heatbreaker.
Maybe it's worth seeking out the original Sony/Columbia release cds of Made in the Shade and Sucking in the 70s.
Pretty sure that 70s is the only comp that contains Shattered.

Or as Sir Elton once noticed:

“It would be awful to be like Keith Richards. He’s pathetic. It’s like a monkey with arthritis, trying to go on stage and look young. I have great respect for the Stones but they would have been better if they had thrown Keith out 15 years ago.”

Made In The Shade is a great mid seventies comp. First album I listened to of that period in their recording history and got me started scooping up their albums. I was a young teenager at the time of its release.

Jump Back is also terrific and the 1993 issue has great DR values unlike the 2009 remaster:

Another great comp from roughly the same time period as Jump Back is the 1989 promo entitled 'Say Ahhh!' It strays away from the hits on occasion and inserts a few deep cuts and the "Fancy Man Blues" b-side. It was released to promote Steel Wheels and sounds pretty good to me.

And it has both Can't You Hear Me Knocking and Hand of Fate not to mention Fancy Man Blues.

I just may go after that! It is heavy on Sticky Fingers tracks (Wild Horses is not included) but that's a good thing!

I bought it for $5 last year at a record show. Didn’t know it was really worth much.

Looking at Honk, it appears to be compressed with low DR values. 40 licks has too many manufactured edits. And adds four new tracks at the expense of hits like Time Is On My Side, Heart Of Stone, etc.

I think I will stay with Rewind and Jump Back. Both sound nice and while Rewind had room for hits like Wild Horses, Happy, Shattered and She’s So Cold, the songs are full length.

Not to worry, there will be another career-spanning collection issued in time for the rescheduled stadium shows. ;)

In all seriousness, does anyone think the 60th anniversary is going to pass without another career-spanning compilation? The band will reel us deep enthusiasts in once again with another bonus disc of rarities or live tracks.
