Just got to the live disk and it's fantastic. Even the people I don't care for sound great on the duets. Worth every penny for the live stuff!

At least 4 - maybe not covering their entire career but all covering large chunks of it. Collectively they’ve covered pretty much the whole thing with some duplication.

There have only been targeted subsequent individual releases. No overall program and large gaps.

The only thing correct here - albeit also almost entirely irrelevant - is they’ve not released a single career spanning box.

But they have released on vinyl:

    1) ABKCO years stereo box
    2) ABKCO years mono box
    3) Post-ABKCO years stereo box - twice

None have been accompanied by a program of later individual releases. Targeted individual releases have trickled out over time here and there.

    Apology accepted.

So, what's the mastering like on this thing?

    I still haven't received my 3CD order.
The official shop did say that they didn't have any stock of the 3CD set when I inquired them, on release date, but the delay makes me fear that my package is lost.

It's terrible! But most of us already have this material with good mastering...it's really for the casual fan or if you want the live bonus disc, which is fantastic.

I presume they can’t, because of ABKCO. But also, what would be the point? Surely anyone who wants the Stones on CD has done so over the past 30+ years, probably multiple times on some albums.

The splitting up of the vinyl sets was a legal issue, but also made sense, as doing the whole thing as one would’ve been unwieldy and insanely expensive. Even Tom Petty split his set up into two eras so people could buy one at a time. (Or just the latter box with all the CD-era albums in it)

So here is a long-delayed Honk vinyl report.

    1. The hole is too small.

    2. Kinda noisy

    3. Definitely louder than the originals

It's listenable, though. Unique track selection and sequencing kinda saves it.

    Not audiophile territory.

What a shame. It would have been something I would have gotten probably used had at least the sound been great.

Well I'm just one set of ears. Get a second opinion before you throw your dreams away :)

I noticed the DR database had numbers for MP3 version, and those were VERY loud. I would call the vinyl medium loud. To me, anyway. The thing I dislike the most are the rice crispies, loud enough to come thru the tracks themselves at times.

I gave it a cursory spin in the spin clean, maybe I'll give it a more serious go and see if things quiet down at all.

Ok, after EXTENSIVE cleaning (about 50 rotations in each direction in the tub) I got it a bit quieter. Angie is a bit more listenable now.

I don't know why, but this release reminds me of this..

Geez, at this point, might they hold the record for the most "best of" compilations?

Anybody else notice the first four cuts in a row are the opening tracks of their parent albums?

“I know” you don’t do Vinyl...but I bought the insanely priced 4LP Honk set from the Stones site yesterday....partly cuz I’m pumped for the rescheduled tour dates, and got seduced by the honk colors (grabbed the white Honk shirt too) - but mostly for the live disc. I was at the shows picked for 2 of the selections.

Glad you’re digging it. Looking forward.
