Upcoming Rolling Stones release "Honk"

As an aside, the magazine that carried the ad that started The Rolling Stones had a date on it of 'week ending May 2nd'. I believe that means it hit the news stands a week before on April 26th. That means The Stones have been together for 57 years.

And it destroys the song...the original speed is the way to go.

 

The groove is better when it is slowed down to the correct speed in my opinion.

 

I'd argue that it's the incorrect speed. Someone found a stretched out master and decided to use it instead of the correct one. I find it unlistenable.

PS - Fingerprint File is my absolute favorite Stones tune.

 

A number of references indicate the slow version is the correct one.

The fast version reminds me of a coke fueled version now that I have heard the other version.

 

The slower, originally intended version is much better.

I found the single-disc version of this at Target, but I passed on it. If I buy it I'm gonna want the full set.

 

Saw 2 LP set at Target and was transparent blue vinyl and was exclusive to Target

 

I saw this too and to be honest I was tempted to pick up the vinyl!

 

Has anyone bought the 1CD version? Are there any edits on it or did they squeeze in all 85+ minutes of those twenty songs?

 

To the best of my knowledge, CD's still only fit 80 minutes of music, so there must be some edits, I would think.

 

Would be nice to know which tracks are edited. Apparently there is also a 'fan pack' version of the 1CD exclusive to Canada, bundled with sunglasses and a drink koozie "both featuring the Canadian Rolling Stones Tongue!" No idea what retailers are stocking this, I haven't even seen the standard edition in stores yet

 

Sunrise has both the standard and deluxe. Haven’t seen thesunglass bundle though.

 

It's interesting that they chose 3 tracks from A Bigger Bang and Voodoo Lounge on the Deluxe Edition and only 1 track from IORR and 2 from Tattoo You.

There are also no live tracks on the 2 discs.

 

I bought the 2CD version (without disc 3) which is sold in the EU but not in the U.S.

I played it today and IMO, the audio quality sounds slightly inferior to the 2009 U.S. Jump Back and 2012 GRRR! comps. Both discs are fairly loud as well, especially certain songs on disc 2. Still, it's possible that discs 1 & 2 found on the U.S. 3CD version could sound better than this EU set, as the tone sounds slightly off to me on the EU 2CD, but from what I recall, the 2009 Jump Back CD sounds better and more normal.

Not in the UK in the 60s it wouldn't. In fact 6,500 sales in week one would get you a Top Ten place most weeks of the 60s, 90s, 2000s and sometimes in the 2010s - until streaming kicked in, would get you top 5.
But especially in the 60s LPs were a minority interest - which is why the early Stones LPs, despite being number 1 almost every time are rarely great sellers.
