No he isn’t but he didn’t have an album titled
Cliff Richard ( England’s Newest Hit Maker) so my stupid joke could only make sense using the Stones . :D

Rotten cover art. Pointless track list. Agreed that if someone new to the Stones wants to check out the 1971-onward era, there are plenty of far more concise options via previous comps, Spotify or YouTube.

I think it’s getting silly keep to dividing their output by ABKCO and post-1971 anyway, considering that everything post-1971 can be divided up into several eras - Mick Taylor era, Ron Wood era, Mick/Keith fighting era, stadium brand era, etc. But then, as other posters here have pointed out, the most recent material can only be carried along by the presence of “Start Me Up.”

Yes, that would make 2 CDs with approx. 72 minutes each.

In defense of "Honk", 3 songs from "Blue and Lonesome". That (hopefully) adds a kick that all previous compilations lacked.

When I "rescued" Steel Wheels in 1990 with my home-brewed tracklist (er, TDK 46-minute blank cassette), I utilized all 3 bluesy B-sides: "Fancy Man", "Cook Cook", and "Wish I'd Never Met You". (And the number of tracks total was 10.) And precisely 3 tracks from "Blue and Lonesome" are on this compilation. I don't think it's enough to carry 3 CDs and ameliorate Brad Paisley, but if HONK is just crafted to sell at merch stands on the next tour leg, so be it. Tourists will get some B&L. They'll be better for it. If they're spending $1K to get in the door, I'm not gonna lose sleep that they're not getting the Ultimate Stones Experience off a $40 CD souvenir.

Well, they held hands and sang "Kumbaya" to get "Forty Licks" and "Grrrrrrrrrr!" out the door.

Apparently that was enough for everyone involved.

Neither of those are on streaming sites, so as I see it this is primarily a way to get the non-album singles on those services

Now let's imagine listening to these vinyle sides:

    Side A:
    Start me Up
    Brown Sugar
    Rocks Off
    Miss You
    Tumbling Dice
    Just Your Fool

A fantastic listening experience. Rocks Off and Just Your Fool are nicely placed to introduce them to novices (yes, they are out there!)

    Side B:
    Wild Horses
    Fool to Cry
    Angie
    Beast of Burden
    Hot Stuff
    It''s Only Rock'n'Roll

Flip the record and a change of mood. Nice idea. Then it gets fonky and finished with a sleazy cool rocker. Excellent.

    Side C:
    Rock and a Hard Place
    Doom and Gloom
    Love is Strong
    Mixed Emotions
    Don't Stop
    Ride'em on Down

A more up-beat contemporary pop/rock side now plus a little reminder of their blues roots. Again, those unfamiliar with the material should be seduced.

    Side D:
    Bitch
    Harlem Shuffle
    Hate to See You Go
    Rough Justice
    Happy
Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)
    One More Shot

A varied side with an awesome kick-off. Fun.

    Side E:
    Respectable
    You Got Me Rocking
    Rain Fall Down
    Dancing With Mr D
    Undercover (of the Night)
    Emotional Rescue

Not a clutch of really great songs but good a variety of tones.

    Side F:
    Waiting on a Friend
    Saint of Me
    Out of Control
    Streets of Love
    Out of Tears

A weird side, leaning heavily on the 90s/00s material (not their best period) which will probablybe the least played.

So quite a strange collection. Looks like a sort of "best of" but it's also meant to introduce lesser known material to newbies. Quite a good idea in a way.

With all of the good-will they've been building with the legacy/archive sets, this is a real kick in the region below the 'short and curlies'. And please save me the comments of, "well, you don't have to buy it..."

No kidding. But they also don't have to release this garbage. We're in an era of streaming and playlists and this is essentially just that but in a format they want you to buy. Sucks. If they want to release a couple tracks, fine. Do that. They're no strangers to the single. They released MANY over the last 57 years.

Dumb compilation and completely not needed. I said the same about Grrrrrr. That was dumb too.

So according to that Amazon.it posting this is a 3-disc vinyl edition. Then there's a fourth disc of live material added in a 'deluxe' edition, or is that only for the cd? If there's a 4-disc vinyl version packaged in a box, I might be tempted, but I really dislike those tri-fold 3-disc vinyl packages (cf. the recent Voodoo Lounge live set). Remember when 3-disc vinyl sets always came in boxes? The tri-folds just feel cheap, which they're not!
