Horrific police body cam footage shows the moment 18-year-old Henry Nowak shouted 'I can't breathe' as he was arrested on the ground after being stabbed by a knife-obsessed Sikh man.

The innocent victim begged officers to call an ambulance after being knifed six times by stranger Vickrum Digwa, who used an eight-inch ceremonial dagger to carry out the murder in Southampton city centre.

Digwa did not know the teenager, but told a 'wicked lie' about him to the first officers on the scene, claiming Mr Nowak shouted racist abuse, punched him and knocked off his turban. The injured student was then arrested as he lay dying on the ground, drowning in his own blood.

Newly released footage shows the teenager saying four times, 'I've been stabbed', to which one policeman replies, 'I don't think you have mate'. Officers pull Mr Nowak along the ground as he continues to beg for help, telling them he cannot breathe at least seven times before he is ordered to place his hands in the cuffs.

The student died from drowning in his own blood shortly after his wrongful arrest, Southampton Crown Court heard.

When did it become acceptable for someone in police care to say “I can’t breathe” and not have that treated as an immediate emergency?

Henry reportedly told officers he couldn’t breathe. He repeatedly said he had been stabbed. Yet in his most vulnerable moments, when he needed protection and help, he was failed.

Who is responsible for the training that allowed this to happen? Who ensures officers recognise the difference between a threat and a terrified young person fighting for his life?

As a parent, I cannot begin to imagine Henry’s final moments. The fear. The confusion. The desperation of knowing something was terribly wrong and trying to make people understand.

Even while critically injured, he found the strength to use his final words to ask for help. That courage deserves to be remembered.

This cannot just become another headline that fades away. There must be accountability, reflection and change because no family should ever have to watch their loved one’s pleas be ignored.

Henry, your death has not gone unnoticed. Your voice mattered. Your life mattered. I hope your name becomes a turning point and a reminder that compassion must always come before assumptions.

Rest in peace Henry. You deserve honour, recognition and justice.

I hope all those officers are arrested and jailed

At the end of the day, whether the racism incident happened or not, it was clear there was a stabbing and the police handled it very wrong. The medical emergency should always be handled first and questioning can happen later

I dont care about the reason they were called, I dont care about what anyone has said before approaching anyone.

The moment anyone says "ive been stabbed" you should be checking him for any puncture wounds IMMEDIATELY.

So, the police prioritised a Turban being knocked off and a slightly bruised eye over a man on the floor claiming to have been stabbed.

If this officer was my own son, I'd disassociate myself from him.

Sikh, Muslim or whatever religion. You don't have religious excuses to carry a blade.

This is England. This is Europe. People whose lives matter are ones who ancestry goes back 200 years.

Regardless, when someone says they’ve been stabbed, the police officers should have done a body check asap and rang the ambulance.

The police lacked basic common sense whether be a victim or perpetrator.if someone says stabbed, it is a priority to check their safety first
