- About Yen time deposit
-
- The Yen time deposit is available for amounts of 1,000 yen or more, in increments of 1 yen.
- As a rule, you cannot withdraw from or cancel a Yen time deposit before its maturity date. If you must cancel early or make a partial withdrawal, the Sony Bank prescribed early-cancellation interest rate will be applied retroactively to the deposit date. For the remaining balance after a partial withdrawal, the interest rate that was applicable at the deposit date will be applied retroactively to the remaining amount.
- Yen savings accounts, Yen time deposits, and Yen installment time deposits are covered by deposit insurance. The principal up to 10,000,000 yen in total and the interest on that principal are protected. Sony Bank does not handle settlement deposits that are eligible for full protection under deposit insurance.
- Yen Installment Time Deposit (Continuous Type / Target Date Type)
-
- The Yen installment time deposit is available for amounts of 1,000 yen or more, in increments of 1,000 yen.
- For Yen installment time deposits, the available terms you can specify are: for the continuous type, 1-year, 2-year, and 3-year terms; for the target-date type, 6-month, 1-year, 2-year, and 3-year terms. There is no interim interest payment.
- Please note that the Yen installment time deposit differs from the standard Yen time deposit in terms of deposit amount, deposit period, and treatment at maturity.
- The maturity handling for the Yen installment time deposit is principal and interest continuation, which automatically renews the principal plus received interest (after tax) on the maturity date.
For the target-date type, if the period from the maturity date on the statement to the start date of the holding period becomes shorter than the deposit period specified at the time of application, it will automatically switch to “maturity date designation” and “automatic cancellation,” treating the target date as the maturity date; at the target date, the principal and received interest (after tax) will be deposited into your Yen savings account. - Partial withdrawals can be specified in increments of 1,000 yen, starting from 1,000 yen. When you make a withdrawal, any Yen installment time deposit that has not yet reached the preselected period will be treated as an early cancellation, and Sony Bank's prescribed “early cancellation interest rate” will be applied retroactively to the deposit date.
