The family of Katie Sullivan, who was stabbed to death by a schizophrenic five years ago, will continue to press for a judicial inquiry into her death.
Richmond and Kingston Health Authority apologised to the Sullivans last week for the insensitive presentation of the first report into the circumstances surrounding the murder of their daughter.
Katie, a 23-year-old psychology graduate, was killed by paranoid schizophrenic Ehri Inweh in October 1992 while she was a part-time care worker at a MIND hostel in Kingston.
The report was put through the Sullivans' door on Christmas Eve 1992, less than eight weeks after Katie died. In it Katie's name was misspelt and, say the family, there were large gaps in the information provided.
The apology was extended to the family at a meeting of the authority last Tuesday.
But Sandra Sullivan, Katie's mother, said it was "not enough" and vowed to continue fighting for someone to be held accountable for her daughter's death.
She said: "We are supposed to be grateful for empty PR gestures that are five years overdue and shouldn't be necessary in the first place."
Following pressure from the family, a second report into the murder was prepared at the end of last year by Dr Edward Peck, an investigator appointed by the government.
But while Dr Peck's report highlighted a number of errors contained in the first report, it too concluded that no one could be held responsible for Katie's death.
But Mr and Mrs Sullivan are convinced there has been a cover-up.
Mrs Sullivan said: ''We are in contact with Jack Straw and Frank Dobson to get a judicial inquiry like the coroner asked for initially. We just want to find out the truth about what happened."
