lol You cared enough to comment and accuse me of shoveling a random script in an AI generator without any adjustments, but now suddenly you don't care. I even had Chatgpt write prompts so I can try to get something closer to what I wanted and it still couldn't even figure out which character had to say which line. The reason I have so much footage is because I kept trying over and over to get something close to my script. I provided storyboard stills, character designs, character descriptions and the results in the video are what I got.

I'm not anti Ai. I have been making my own animation and animated shorts since early 2000 and would love to have a tool that can help me do even more. Which is why I'm also not against testing it out, but so far I just haven't seen any results I like (except when it does live action) My biggest argument with these videos is against the idea that human animators will be replaced.

Thanks for that link. I'm definitely open to using it as a tool. I even made a follow up video to my first one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faiD8w2rul4 where I tested out giving AI a rough animated test and a final clean up to see if it can clean it up using the final as reference. Then I tried giving it a fully tied down animation to see if it can finalize it with clean up and color. I didn't get any good results but can definitely see potential in that area with a few more upgrades to AI.

Wow, thank you for that. You have no idea how much it means to hear that. I've only experienced my work from behind the scenes and had no idea they had that kind of effect on people. It's great to hear and makes all the time I put into them worth it.

Thank you, there’s plenty of work I do without using reference but there’s also a lot of times where I’ll use reference. Sometimes I’ll use reference as a starting point and go completely off into my own thing and sometimes I’ll rely heavily on reference. There’s plenty of videos showing even the old Disney masters working off live action references they filmed for each scene in their features. For most dance animation I rely heavily on reference.

The dialogue and acting part is rigged (my first time in Toonboom Harmony) but the dance is hand-drawn frame by frame

One time I was showing someone my animation, in rough pencil test stage. I was flipping through the drawings frame by frame and showing the drawings moving, and showing them how I use a wacom pen to draw directly on the screen. After watching all that, their question was "how long would this have taken you if it was frame by frame hand drawn?" lol

This is what I imagine people think animators do for a living — based on some of the wild animation requests I get (like animating a full music video or an entire show… solo), or the kinds of comments I hear from people outside the industry when they ask what I do. Someone once jokingly asked if I draw in crayons all day. So… I made this.

I gave my drawing to AI and gave it the prompt to animate a dance. This funny looking dance is what I got back. I know AI is currently at the worst it’s ever going to be and is only going to get better but for now it gave me a good laugh 😂 What do you think of AI Animation and it's future in Animation?
