Imagine if Pakistan India and Bangladesh remained as one and there were no partitions ? It would be crazy seeing the religious diversity spread around the subcontinent.

I was suprised not to see Jainism. I guess it's a lot smaller than I thought.
It’s not tied to any particular ethnicity like many of the more obscure ones, I think the population is sort of spread out without a majority anywhere, but it probably has a larger total count than some of the tribal religions
It's not the majority in any one district, though they are an important demographic. Them and the Parsis/zoroastrians are like the jewish people in 1800s europe
Parsis are very less, less tha 100k. But Jains are like 4.5 million.

Actually the ones closest to borders are the least diverse since the people could easily move over. This excludes the Hindu majority areas of Sindh, who are a weird exception.

It’s actually pretty small compared to how populated it is. Australia is 2.4 times bigger, China is 3 times bigger, the USA is 4 times bigger, and Russia is 5.2 times bigger than India in terms of land area.
Now do % of livable land
It's because most of our land is habitable compared to say Australia or Russia where there's vast patches where nothing can be grown.
I wonder if itd be possible to see this map but instead of a binary color choice showing simple religous majority more of a spectrum to reflect the diversity and significant minorities in each state for each country (Adding Bangladesh also)
Why does Gujarat have those uninhabited subdivisions? Why aren't they combined with nearby inhabited ones?

Most are similar to hinduism.
Kinda surprised how dominated by Hinduism India is since I've often been told India is very religiously diverse. I guess it's less like how Lebanon is religiously diverse with different religions making large percentages of the population and more like how Canada is religiously diverse with many small groups with distinct religions
Actually in most cases, the Majority isn't by huge margin and can be close enough to call plurality in most districts.

i believe for the same reason india claims kashmir. the leader chose to join that country, even though the majority of the population didn’t want to
It’s because Junagadh had a Muslim maharaja who wanted it to be part of Pakistan just before India’s partition. Thankfully he was overthrown.
It's mostly to point out the hypocrisy of India regarding Kashmir.

Total Zorastarians population is like 50k so they won't make majority in any region. Jains are sometimes counted as hindus or same as zorastarians they might not make majority anywhere.
