Finishing treatment doesn’t always mean everything suddenly feels normal again. 💛
For many survivors, the journey after cancer comes with its own quiet challenges, learning to feel at home in a changed body, rebuilding confidence, navigating relationships differently, and figuring out who they are beyond treatment.
That part of survivorship deserves to be talked about too.
Thankful to platforms like Our Cancer Stories for creating space for patients and survivors to share their experiences honestly and remind others that they are not alone in what comes after. ✨
Healing is not always linear. Sometimes it looks like small steps, patience, support from loved ones, and slowly finding pieces of yourself again.

According to Office on Women’s Health, many screenings that begin in your 20s, 30s, and 40s should occur regularly across the lifespan. Here’s a quick guide*:
💚 In your 20s:
- Cervical cancer (Pap smear) screening at 21 and every 3 years after.
🧡 In your 30s:
- Breast health discussion with your doctor if you have a BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutation or a strong family history of breast or ovarian cancer.
💙 In your 40s:
- Mammogram every 1-2 years starting at 40.
- Colon cancer screening at 45.
💜 In your 50s and beyond:
- Lung cancer screening at 50 if you have a smoking history.
Talk to your health care provider about what routine screenings are right for you. Learn more about cancer prevention at ourcancerstories.com.
