This is Chidoribashi .
The name does not come from the fact that "customers who had been drinking in Nakasu walked along the river and staggered to the bridge." It was more than 30 years ago, but a classmate of mine from university told me the above story with a smug look on his face.
Back then, there was no internet or search engine, and no way to quickly check the truth of something. But even today, the information on the web is a mixture of good and bad, and it's hard to know what's true.

The surprising past of the "Chidoribashi" bus stop
This was formerly the Nishitetsu Bus Chiyo Depot .
Before that, until February 1979, it was Chidoribashi Station on the streetcar line , and even earlier, it was the starting point of the Nishitetsu Miyajidake Line . * At that time, it was called "Hakata" Station. I wasn't born yet.
*In May 1924, the station was opened under the name of Hakata Station by the Hakata Railway Steamship Co., Ltd. In 1942, the company was merged with Nishi-Nippon Railroad Co., Ltd. and renamed "Nishitetsu Hakata Station."

When I look at the photo above with that in mind, I notice that the site curves gently . This is probably a remnant of the railroad tracks . The railroad tracks from Kaizuka continue on in the direction of Chiyomachi, not in the direction of the current National Route 3 .
It passed under the urban expressway and extended in the direction of crossing Chidori Bridge .
Take a stroll around the area looking for traces of the past
So, I was looking for other remains of the time when this was an office or station , and I saw cherry blossoms in the direction of Kaizuka from the Chidoribashi bus stop.
The day of our visit was April 7th , and the cherry blossoms were just starting to fall.
This promenade, which starts from where the car was parked in the previous photo, is the former railroad tracks .
At the entrance to the promenade, I found the old Nishitetsu company emblem, which I think marks the boundary between the land for the railway and the road.
There are various other ruins around the former railway tracks and depot, so we would like to continue introducing them in the future.
