New Survey Says The Two Most Popular Disney World Rides Include A Ride That’s Closed Forever And Another That’s Closed At Disneyland

Just what is the most popular ride at Walt Disney World? Ask 10 people that question, and you’re liable to get 10 different responses. There’s really no way to come up with a truly definitive answer, but a recent survey came to the conclusion that the most popular attraction at Disney World is one you can’t even ride anymore, Splash Mountain. And the second most popular ride is one that used to exist at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, but can now only be found in Florida, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

The travel planners at MagicGuides recently conducted a survey to determine the best ride at Walt Disney World, and that's how it was concluded that Splash Mountain is the most popular. It may be somewhat surprising to hear that a ride that’s been closed at Disney World since January is the best, but the fact is that the way “best” was determined here likely had everything to do with why the attraction came out on top.

The three metrics used were Google search volume, Instagram hashtags, and Trip Advisor ratings. It's worth mentioning that two of those three were likely largely influenced by the fact that Splash Mountain has been known to be closing for two years before it happened. To be sure, the numbers released show that the search volume for now-closed ride dwarfs that of any other ride in the top 15. Only two attractions, Splash and Space Mountain, had an average monthly search volume of six figures. Interestingly, Splash still saw an average search volume well above that of Space, which came in third in the ranking.

That search volume was likely largely because people were looking for information about the ride closing or perhaps looking for conversations to be had about the ride closing. Social media activity around the ride absolutely exploded once it was confirmed to be closing, so it’s not surprising there were a lot of Instagram hashtags about it.

The rest of the list is a bit easier to get behind. Although, it is interesting to see the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror as number two on the list. While the drop ride has always been popular, this level of popularity perhaps does show just why people are still upset the ride was rethemed at Disneyland Resort. The version of Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure was transformed into Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout. So while a drop attraction still exists there, it’s very different, and not everybody appreciates the change.

Space Mountain comes in at number three, which isn’t that much of a shock as the ride is a classic. Other notable entries include Rise of the Resistance at number five, and the classic Haunted Mansion at number seven. The Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, which has been rumored for a retheme, comes in at number 11, and the resort’s newest attraction, Tron: Lightcycle Run, comes in at number 13. That latter figure is impressive considering the ride has only been around for a couple of months, so it hasn’t had long to built those metrics. We can guess that ride will be moving up any future list.

You can't help but see the incredible irony in these rankings, considering the fates of Splash Mountain and Disneyland's Tower of Terror. Regardless of the data and elements that led to their positions though, the buzz is a testament to just how popular both attractions were.

Man Says He Won Millions in the Lottery 11 Years Ago, Secretly Stayed ‘Broke,’ and Never Told His Family

A Reddit user said he kept his lottery winnings secret from his family for 11 years.

Posting from an anonymous account on r/AMA, user Think-Assistance-419 hosted an AMA discussion. He won the lottery over a decade ago and his family still believes he is broke.

“Been carrying this around for over ten years and it feels stupid to keep doing it alone,” he wrote.

He said his first splurge was a glass of whiskey. He placed an order for a $48 pour of Pappy Van Winkle 15. Nobody there knew him. The bartender ignored him. He sipped it slowly and allowed himself to realize, for the first time, that he was rich.

“Anticlimactic honestly,” he replied to a commenter who asked about his first splurge. “I remember thinking, that’s it? For $48?” He could order one every night for the rest of his life without touching the principal. After thinking about the cost, he never ordered it again. “It stopped being fun the second I knew there was no limit,” he wrote. “The whiskey was the moment.”

User guestpassonly quoted Oscar Wilde: “True contentment is not having everything, but in being satisfied with everything you have.”

“It’s not ‘be grateful for less,'” the original poster replied. “It’s ‘stop reaching past what’s already enough.’ They sound similar but they’re different.”

He has spent quietly and deliberately. When asked about his favorite purchase, he chose a $4,000 mattress over anything else. More than the whiskey, a leather chair he lied to his mother about, and an antique record player he claims he discovered at an estate sale. He doesn’t even wear a watch.

“This is mine and this is for me,” he said of the mattress. He described the mattress as a personal reward.

Commenter emergencycat17 shared a plan she previously formed with her then-boyfriend: pay off mortgages secretly, quit jobs discreetly, invest the remainder, and inform no one in either family except those who could maintain a secret.

They had even rehearsed scenarios involving relatives asking for money. Think-Assistance-419 read it and laughed. “Boring is the play,” he replied. “Yacht people have never actually had money.”

Studies have found that some lottery winners later face financial difficulties. Research from the National Endowment for Financial Education has repeatedly found that a significant portion of lottery winners report financial distress within a few years of receiving their winnings, often tied to pressure from family and social circles.

  • Riley Keough defied the Cannes Film Festival's "explicit" dress code by wearing a sheer outfit from Chanel, breaking the rule against nudity on the red carpet.

Riley Keough put the Cannes Film Festival's no nudity rules to the test when she rocked up in a sheer outfit on Thursday evening.

The 36-year-old defied the festival's "explicit" dress code, which was enforced last year, which bans several types of gowns, particularly the celebrity-favored 'naked' dress, defined by barely-there materials, such as sheer mesh, tulle, lace, or crystals, that create the illusion of nudity.

Riley seemingly ignored the rules and arrived on the red carpet at the Histoires Parallèles (Parallel Tales) premiere in a sheer, blush organza two-piece from Chanel's 2026 spring collection.

The actress looked gorgeous in her rule-breaking set, which featured a loose shirt and a matching skirt, both with embellished trimmings, that exposed her lingerie underneath.

In 2025, the Cannes Film Festival announced "explicit" dress code rules for stars to follow, prohibiting nudity and voluminous outfits.

"This year, the Cannes Film Festival has made explicit in its charter certain rules that have long been in effect," a statement from the festival read.

"The aim is not to regulate attire per se, but to prohibit full nudity on the red carpet, in accordance with the institutional framework of the event and French law."

The Cannes website dress code section now reads: "For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as in any other area of the festival.

"Voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theatre are not permitted."

It added: "The festival welcoming teams will be obligated to prohibit red carpet access to anyone not respecting these rules."

The Cannes Film Festival has stuck by its dress code this year and even offered up some style guidelines for guests attending screenings.

"For the Grand Théâtre Lumière gala screenings taking place around 7 and 10 p.m., which are attended by the artistic teams, evening wear (long dress, tuxedo) is required," it states on the festival's FAQ page.

"Alternatively, you may also wear 'a little black dress,' a cocktail dress, a dark-colored pantsuit, a dressy top with black pants; elegant shoes and sandals with or without a heel (no sneakers); a black or navy-blue suit with bow-tie or dark-colored tie."

It adds that "tote-bags, backpacks or large bags are prohibited during gala screenings."

In 2015, the BBC reported that Cannes was "turning away women in flat shoes" from its premieres.

"Rules have not changed throughout the years (tuxedo, formal dress for gala screenings) and there is no specific mention about the height of the women's heels as well as for men's," replied the film festival's organisers.

Riley isn't the first star to break the new dress code rules. Last year, Amal Clooney wore a Christian Dior gown by John Galliano, which had a prohibited floor-sweeping train, and Julia Garner and Alessandra Ambrosio both wore dresses featuring sheer materials and flowing trains.

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is off to a hot start to the 2026 WNBA season. While she has struggled with shooting the ball from deep, she continues to produce at a high level, averaging 22.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 1.0 steal in two games played.

The Fever are 1-1 on the season so far, more recently getting into the win column after defeating the Los Angeles Sparks.

Obviously, there are plenty of eyes on Clark, especially as fans wait in anticipation to see how she'll perform and whether she can help establish the Fever as title contenders. Indiana reached the WNBA semifinals last year without her, so expectations are high that her presence will take the team to the next level.

On Friday, Clark drew plenty of attention once again. This time, however, it's not because of her play on the court. Instead, it's due to her pregame appearance, which stunned a lot of fans.

Prior to their showdown with the Washington Mystics, Clark arrived at Gainbridge Fieldhouse wearing a relaxed but classy outfit.

The two-time All-Star sported a dark brown pinstriped blazer, which she paired with an oversized button-down shirt with a denim effect. She rocked blue denim jeans to match her top, along with brown suede pumps.

If you've ever been to a pet shelter without adopting a dog, you know how seeing those little puppy dog eyes can pull at someone's heartstrings. For one hiker named Sam, his heart was put to the ultimate test when he stumbled upon a stray puppy in the mountains in this YouTube video by The Dodo. Over 1.3 million people have tuned in to see these two's loving interaction, and Sam's impossible decision at the end of his trip.

Sam contemplated turning back around on the day before meeting Rex the pup in the Kyrgyzstan mountains, but serendipity had other plans. He met the sweet puppy without a collar on the other side of a beautiful mountain peak, and the two "bonded quickly." Sam decided to name her Rex, like many of the other local dogs, and he'd even let her travel on his shoulders sometimes (how cute!).

But then, it was nearing time for him to leave, and he had to make a decision: to leave with or without Rex. Luckily, Sam learned that six families lived at the top of the mountain. He asked one of them if they'd adopt Rex, and they agreed! Still, choosing to leave her behind was tough. However, Sam knew deep down that this mountain dog didn't "belong in a city in between four walls." Sam shared that he still thinks about that sweet mountain dog today, and we don't blame him. What a tough decision!

Dogs are so cute, and no one knows that more than dogless dog lovers. You may have friends with fur babies, or volunteer at a shelter, but is simply visiting with Fido enough? Many dog lovers without dogs will eventually ask themselves the difficult question, "Am I ready to adopt a dog?"

Time, space, and money are all quite important when it comes to dog adoption. Essential bonding and habit-building happen in the first three months of adoption, so having a lot of time to focus is important, especially for puppies. Remember, dogs love a solid routine (and can struggle without one). Then, there's the matter of a pet-friendly home; inadequate housing is one of the big reasons pets are returned to shelters. A 2025 survey by Rover also showed that the average cost of owning a dog can range from $1,390 to $5,295 a year, including things like food, grooming, and visits to the vet.

Once you decide that you're ready for a dog, now comes the exciting part of finding one. A step-by-step guide can help you delve into the dog shelter adoption process. Or, you may meet a stray pup in the wild like Sam the hiker, in which case, you have a very important decision to make.
