What Is Ringworm: Undying Love?
Previously known as "Heartworm" the game title was changed on the 7th of May 2026 during (thankfully) early devolopment. This was due to another indie-horror game already having that title that I was previously unaware of.
Now, Ringworm: Undying Love is a game loosely based off of Yandere Simulator, a game taking inspiration from the popular series Hitman, and Persona. Unlike Yandere Simulator, Ringworm is much more focused on horror. Ringworm isn't a horror game, though, but just inspired from them visually.
Visual Identity
The look and feel of Ringworm is most accurately described as a "PS1 Dollhouse". The game uses a shader to make a shifting dither pattern, remenecent of old video games. The models are all low poly and like the original Silent Hill, the levels are built using a grid map. To texture the models I'm using a technique called gradient mapping. Every mesh uses the same texture that's a teeny tiny color gradient. This saves me time on texturing because I don't have to make new textures for every creature, just map their UVs to be in the right spots to color them correctly.
This isn't to say that I tried to make the game nostalgia bait, but I accept that it kind of ended up that way.
