I didn’t know this was something people talked about, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have felt the need to ask myself. I’m not Western or Christian, and my YouTube algorithm never really showed me this kind of content except maybe once in the past, if it had been something I saw regularly, I likely wouldn’t be this confused. I just wanted to understand not to make a fuss
I genuinely have no idea why you think I'm being a creep! When I said "content," I didn't just mean anime I also meant documentaries I came across on YouTube I stumbled across them by accident, and then I started looking into it more to understand the topic better!... and by the way, I've never even watched Pokemon so I had no idea who Misty is. If I were some weirdo, why would I make a post like this trying to understand the reality of a different country? I never disrespected you, so there's no need to be defensive and disrespectful.
It’s obviously horrible, and I’m not trying to compare one country to another. And I already have plenty of access to Western content, so this isn’t new to me. However, Japanese content is harder to access, and unfortunately I came across many videos about Japan that made me wonder what things are actually like in real life.
That is true for anime that don’t contain anything problematic, but I’m specifically referring to shows that seem designed to appeal to inappropriate audiences like A Girl and Her Guard Dog. I was genuinely shocked when I saw discussions about this online. What I’m trying to understand is are Japanese people aware of these kinds of shows, and do they oppose them?
