Gourdy, full name Gourdy Holloway, is one of the 12 playable Holiday Toons and one of the 8 playable Main Characters in Dandy's World. He was introduced on October 10, 2025, alongside Eclipse, Ribecca, and Soulvester. He is only available during the Halloween Event in Gourdy's Store.

Appearance

Gourdy is a young, anthropomorphic pumpkin. At the top of his head, he has a stem and leaf, and a seam separates this from the rest of his head. He sports a fanged grin, and his eyes are uniquely distinct in that he has a black sclera and white pupil, resembling the carved eyes of a jack-o'-lantern. He has large paws for hands, with four claws on each hand, and a long, slim tail (which is curved in-game), with a leaf on the tip. His head, torso, and hands are orange, while his arms, legs, claws, and tail are green. His legs gradient into a darker green, matching the tail, and have 6 slim stripes of the original green, resembling a pumpkin vine.

Personality

Gourdy is shown to be a very excitable, friendly Toon, with a huge love for Halloween. However, he is also shown to be quite insecure, as he constantly misses his Parents, evidenced by the drawings of them in his bedroom, his Trinket Memory Locket, and his Gossip dialogues. It is also possible that the expectations placed upon him as a Main Character Toon despite being a child plays a factor in this.

Gourdy demonstrably idolizes the Main Character Toons, perhaps even seeing them as superior to him, an example being his dialogue with Vee and his gossip about Shelly revealing his deep admiration for the Toons. His room even features plush toys of all the Main Characters, further supporting this. Gourdy also seems to be polite and well-mannered, as evidenced in his dialogue where he frequently addresses other Toons as Mr. or Ms., and calls the Mains by their last names, unless instructed otherwise. Despite this he tries to like Shelly but doesn’t seem to like her as much as the other Mains as seen with his gossip about her.

In one of Gourdy's gossip dialogues about Toodles. He seems to be trying to hide how upset he is as he talks about Toodles. He clearly cares more about his friend now that he can't even remember his parents, so it's likely interacting with Toodles comforts him since they are both children and therefore relate more to each other. He speaks about not seeing her often but tries to stay upbeat and happy about it, though you can clearly sense his anxiety and fear of losing her.

Mastery Strategies

• For the first task, equip Ghost Snakes In A Can and/or Sweet Charm to shorten the cooldown. Also vote for Rehearsal/Practice Cards to further reduce it.
• For the second task, use Vee's Remote or other Extracting Trinkets to extract fast. You can also ask someone to prime all the Machines and finish them yourself. Buy/collect Items like Extraction Speed Candies or Valves to speed up extraction. You can also invite Toons with extraction boosting Abilities to speed up the process.
• For the third task, go around the map and collect all the Items on the Floor and repeat. You can also invite some Toons to make this faster.
• For the fourth task, try joining a run (a full one, if possible) and playing. The extra people can help make floor progression faster.
• For the fifth task, ask someone to play as a Main Character and play with them. Otherwise, find runs with them and try to protect them. Having multiple of them in a run makes it easier. Joining "Main Only" runs makes it easier as the entire team will be Main Characters so you don't need to rely on only one Toon.
• For the sixth task, equip Dog Plush and Clown Horn (better)/ Ribbon Spool and walk/run around the map. Invite people who are willing to play as Movement Speed boosting Toons (eg. Tisha or Flyte) to make this faster if you want.

Do note that the strategies above are designed for the quickest completion. Masteries are completable in your own pace, no rush needed, and some ideas could be unsuitable for a normal run.

Requirement Strategies

• For the first and second requirements, focus on picking up Research Capsule/Pumpkin and extracting Machine. The Machine, Capsule and Pumpkin count increases the further you descend, so you can earn more Ichor and Pumpkins.
• For the third requirement, have a Distractor Toon bring Twisted Gourdy to the elevator to you so you can get aggro. Playing as Rodger also helps getting Research faster because of his Passive Ability. This will be easier if Twisted Gourdy is on the Daily Twisted Board.

Strategies

With max extraction thanks to 5 in both Skill Check and Extraction Speed (tied with Soulvester), alongside 4 Star Movement Speed and 1 Star Stealth, Gourdy is suitable for almost any role, being an amazing and extremely versatile all-rounder. His only genuine con is his 1 Star Stamina (and his 1 Star Stealth if you intend to play him as an extractor, since you could interfere with your distractor often), but this can be easily mitigated with Cooler or simply good Stamina management, especially if you have played Toons with similar Stats, and the 1 Star Stealth can be a non-factor by being aware of how to manage Twisteds.

Gourdy's Active Ability, Trick or Treat, functions similarly to Toodles' Active Ability, however it is slightly more potent (+5% extra compared to Beginner's Luck) and gives the boost to surrounding teammates within a small radius instead of boosting himself, in addition to it having an extra 10 seconds of cooldown. Unlike most random-effect abilities, it will actually show what the effect is (at least on your target's screen) making it easier to figure out what to do with the buff. His Ability's randomness means it shouldn't be fully relied on to help teammates (ex. giving Skill Check to a Toon being chased), but it is still a helpful tool if you roll something good for your team. Also note his radius is quite small, so you have to practically hug your target, but his 1 Star Stealth can help if you want to boost a teammate who is being chased by taking aggro away from them. Try not to boost distractors (unless in Panic Mode!); you'll take aggro away from them by accident unless your distractor is playing Pebble and Speak! is active, they use an Air Horn, or they're playing as a 1 Star Stealth Toon (which you may still take aggro from if you get too close, due to percentage based Stealth decreasing Trinkets like Scrapbook not affecting them). His Ability could be used through a wall or obstacle near the distractor, but due to the boost that he gives being randomized, it isn't worthwhile unless they're struggling. Ask teammates to group around you before the Elevator opens to boost a lot of players at once. Try to use Trick or Treat on extracting Toons as you pass them—your 1 Star Stealth makes it easy even while distracting as long as you understand line of sight. You can also ask teammates to run up to you if they pass while you're extracting so you can boost them.

His Passive Ability, Sugar Rush, grants everyone (including himself) a +20% Movement Speed boost for 5 seconds at the beginning of a Floor and at Panic Mode, functioning much like a global Pull Toy and Alarm. This is very useful, especially for slow Toons who have trouble reaching the elevator, since a +20% Movement Speed boost is decently potent. It also can help you (or your distractor, depending on how you wish to play Gourdy) find Twisteds faster at the start of a Floor and conserve a bit of Stamina at Panic Mode, and also help with reaching Machines faster. It's somewhat useful for countering Twisted Finn and can help you get to the Elevator a bit easier.

Gourdy also has great distracting capabilities. He has 1 Star Stealth, meaning he can passively grab aggro from any Toon (besides Brightney, who he may have to get closer to grab aggro from, and Shrimpo), which is extremely helpful for distracting. Unlike Brightney, he has 4 Star Movement Speed, giving him a better distraction playstyle. His Stamina is much lower than her in comparison though, so be careful and only sprint/sprint-tap when needed.

Given Gourdy's extreme general potential, there is no specific recommended playstyle for him. As such, given his relatively easy requirements compared to other Mains, he is a very good pick for anyone experienced with using Main Characters. There is no "wrong" way to play Gourdy, as his only three deficits (Stealth, Health, and Stamina) can mostly be mitigated by strategy, so feel free to give yourself leeway in trying different Trinket combinations, since there really isn't much punishment gameplay-wise if you lean into a specific role.

Yatta has a really similar playstyle to him, with slightly higher Stealth and lower Skill Check. This can make her a decent alternative to Gourdy, especially due to him being exclusive to the Halloween Event and his higher requirements. Additionally, Yatta leans a bit more into her own survivability, with her higher Health making hits less dangerous and her Ability being able to be utilized by her too, while Gourdy's Active Ability is helpful to only his teammates. Her Passive is also much more potent than Gourdy's and can be used anytime without needing to go up to Toons, though it uses the inventory, while Gourdy's Active Ability can give multiple Toons longer boosts, though it is randomized, making the boost useless sometimes. Yatta's 2 Star Stealth lets her pass Twisteds off to 2 Star Stealth distractors too if she plans to not distract, while Gourdy needs to rely on walls, Shrimpo, Blot Jr., a Brightney/Gourdy close enough or an Air Horn to get rid of Twisteds. Nevertheless, both Toons are extremely powerful, though Yatta is a better pick for solo runs and increased survivability while Gourdy is better in teams and selflessness with better extracting, distracting, and supporting potential, though Gourdy can still be a good pick for solos as you can easily make his Ability self-sufficient with a Trinket like Peppermint Icing and Ghost Snakes In A Can.

Gourdy players can apply many of Brightney's strategies:

• Stand outside of the Elevator during Panic Mode to reduce Twisted pressure on teammates
• Steal aggro from others and lose it quickly to assist them
• If Twisteds are splitting everywhere, gather them and do a pass to your distractor
• Be cautious when the Elevator opens; expect Twisteds to flock to you and act to protect overeager teammates
• Relieve distractors during Panic Mode

Trinket Combinations

Because of Gourdy's 1 Stealth, good mobility, and high Extraction Stats, recommended Trinket combinations for Gourdy are:

Mobility

• Dog Plush/Options
  • This Trinket supplements the Ability to distract (19.3 Walk Speed). Here are some options to pair this Trinket with:
    • Speedy Shoes, to be able to outwalk fast Twisteds and unlock the Ability of looping Twisted Pebble;
    • Clown Horn or Ribbon Spool, to outrun all Twisteds during Panic Mode, excluding Pebble while active (21.2 walk/30.3 run);
    • Train Whistle, to nullify the Slow Debuff, making Twisted Vee significantly easier to distract;
    • Cooler, to increase Stamina to 3 , and sprint for longer distances;
    • Pop Pack, if you don't plan to take a lot of Items, being a more effective Cooler thanks to its consistent Pop source and not giving a Speed debuff;
    • Star Pillow, to regenerate Stamina quickly when extracting; etc.
    • The Trinkets below the Extraction Section, to help with floor progression; etc.

Extraction

• Magnifying Glass/Options
  • Participation Award, to maximize his 5 Skill Check and speed up Machine completion, making him one of the fastest extractors in-game;
  • Vee's Remote, to instantly complete the first Machine on any Floor.

Ability/Support

• Ghost Snakes In A Can/ Peppermint Icing
• The cooldown reduction synergizes with Peppermint Icing, allowing him to regain Stamina more often. With Practice/Rehearsal Cards, Trick or Treat reaches a cooldown of 20 seconds, which means you can consistently support your team and keep your low Stamina in-check.
  • These Trinkets can additionally be used separately if you want to solely maximize either his Stamina or his cooldown.

Note: Diary or Scrapbook are not recommended Trinkets for Gourdy as they do not affect his Stealth Stat since his 1 Star Stealth means 0 Stealth units, and multiplication of 0 will always be 0.

• Gourdy and Soulvester are the only Toons to have permanent 5 in two Stats.

• Gourdy is the second Toon to have eyes that do not have white sclerae and black pupils, with the first being Vee.
• Gourdy is the only Toon to have inset eyes. This makes him as if he's looking at the viewer's perspective from multiple angles.
  • This might have been inspired by the pre-release version of Dandy.

  • Fresh Fall is the only Skin to be unintentionally leaked prior to release. Infected Candy Yatta was also technically leaked, however the design was made by a developer prior to being in the dev team.
• Gourdy is the third Toon to have visible fingers, after Goob and Scraps.
  • Additionally, his hands are very similar to Goob's.
• Gourdy is the first Toon to have an official song in collaboration with the YouTuber CG5 called Locked Away.[1]
• Gourdy is the first Toon in general to have confirmed biological parents, currently known as Mr & Mrs Holloway.
  • He carries a mix of his parents' features, taking:
    • Mr Holloway's paws, leaf tail, and the light green claws and arm.
    • Mrs Holloway's head shape, leaf shape, amount of leaves on his stem, and the dark green feet and stem leaf.
    • Both Mr Holloway's and Mrs Holloway's body colors, making a lighter shade of orange.
    • Both Mr Holloway's and Mrs Holloway's stem leaves and legs colors with them being a light to dark green gradient.
• The idea for a pumpkin Main Character might have been repurposed for Gourdy based off of the scrapped 2024 Halloween Event Toon, Harvey, who might have been also pumpkin related.
• Gourdy is the first Holiday Toon who is shown to not be running away from a Twisted in the thumbnails, instead playing with Toodles, followed by Soulvester, who appears giving Twisted Gourdy a Stealth Candy.
• His name, Gourdy, is a reference to the word gourd, which means a hard-shelled fruit part of the Cucurbitaceae family, which include pumpkins.
  • Additionally, while Gourdy’s legs look like pumpkin vines, they can also be interpreted as looking a bit like small cucumbers or some other green organism from said family, which gives him a stronger connection to gourds as a whole, even while he himself is a pumpkin.
• He is the second Toon to get a marketable plushie, the first being Dandy.
  • Additionally, he's the first Holiday Toon to have one.
• If you play as Gourdy and enter the secret bedroom and stay in it for a few seconds, his dialogue will pop up saying "I shouldn't stay here much longer", which in turn makes him the second playable Toon with dialogue without using Ability or being in the Elevator, after Vee.
  • He is the first one to actually speak, since Vee's dialogue only uses an ellipsis ("...") and nothing else.
• Gourdy seems to like drawing, as seen in Ribecca's dialogue, his gossip about Brusha, and in the Locked Away music video.
• Gourdy is the second Toon to be teased in-game before their release, as seen in Dyle's gossip dialogue talking about Toodles, with Blot being the first Toon.
  • Yatta could also count, being slightly hinted through one of Looey's dialogues with Teagan.
  • Additionally, he is the first Holiday Toon and Main Character to be teased this way.
• Many think that Gourdy doesn't have a dialogue sound. This, however, is a common misconception, as it is just very quiet.
• Gourdy is one of the 5 Toons to have a flaccid tail, with the first Toons being Vee and Scraps, the second being Connie (debatable) and the third being Yatta.
• Gourdy's Lost Prince Skin has a slightly different idle fidget than his other Skins. In his other Skins his head seems to tilt towards the side of whichever one of his hands go up, but in his Lost Prince Skin the side his head tilts towards seems to align (movement wise) with his hands.
  • If the situation calls for it, it is a common feature for Skins to have slightly different animations or positions as to not interfere with additionally added features (e.g Fairy Godmother Shrimpo has his arms further apart to not touch the dress, to avoid his arms clipping in the skirt), though why it is different and whether or not it is an instance of this is unknown.
• Funnily enough, Gourdy gets paler with the release of each of his Skins (excluding Vintage), with Midnight Sleeper having him slightly pale, Crinkling Leaves making the paleness more noticeable, Lost Prince making him a noticeable palish-yellowish color, and finally Fresh Fall having a similar limeish color.
• Gourdy, Eclipse, and Soulvester are the first Holiday Toons to have more than 1 Holiday Skin, having 4, 3, and 2 respectively.
• Gourdy used to have the most Holiday Skins of all the Toons, with 4 Skins, before being beat by Ginger and Bobette, with 6.
  • However, he still holds the most Skins out of all Toons in the Halloween Event.
    • This is probably because he is the Main Character of the Halloween Event, so it would make sense for him to have the most Halloween Skins.
• Gourdy's Skins may be based on Mr Holloway or Mrs Holloway, with the colors and traits on some of them looking quite similar to his parents, or allude to them in some way.
  • In his Midnight Sleeper Skin, Gourdy is a paler version of his default color, looking more like Mrs Holloway's color while still keeping Mr Holloway's more vibrant orange tone. In addition, he has more leaves like Mr Holloway (two on the stem), but they have Mrs Holloway's darker green and shape.
  • In his Crinkling Leaves Skin, Gourdy looks like a dried out pumpkin, making his color look more like Mrs Holloway and his leaves look more like Mr Holloway.
  • In his Fresh Fall Skin, though it may be coincidental, he looks like an unripe (or "immature") pumpkin, reflecting his family role as Mr and Mrs Holloway's offspring.
• Gourdy is the fourth Toon to have their Toon and Twisted counterparts in two separate thumbnails, the first being Razzle & Dazzle & Blot, the second being Pebble & Sprout, the third being Shelly, the fifth being Coal, and the sixth being Bassie.
• According to Gourdy's gossip about Eclipse, he has a small flame in his head.
  • However, he doesn't glow in Blackouts, as the flame would be too small to emit any useful light.
• Gourdy's Active Ability, Trick or Treat, doesn't give Stealth. This may be due to the Stealth boost not working/being detrimental to certain Toons.
• Similar to Astro, the aura that is produced when Gourdy uses his Active Ability is actually a 3d model.
• Gourdy is the Main Character with the shortest Ability Cooldown, with it being 35 seconds.
