To those still waiting,

I would still like to finish these stories one day. Unfortunately, if I am going to be completely honest with myself and with you, that day may never come. Life can change a lot in a year - let alone five - and we should never make promises we can't be certain we'll keep.

I am sorry. And thank you, so much.

George.

This is completely beautiful. Even if it is a fanfiction, it can be read without knowing anything about the source it came from and understand it.
Lovely story, lovely, beautiful story!

I first read this fanfiction 10 years ago, when the anime Hetalia had quickly become my biggest middle-school obsession, and one of my very first interactions with fandom culture. In fact, this was thirteen-year-old-me's favourite fanfic of all time, and I would read it again and again and again. It's definitely a core memory for me lol, even before reading it this time I could still clearly remember the plot and lots of its quotes.

I'm not part of that fandom anymore, mostly because I just grew out of it, and although I mostly cringe when I remember how I acted as a young teenager, I still look back with fondness on certain aspects of me beeing a nearly-friendless "weirdo" obsessed with anime, kpop, "emo" music, books, and tumblr fandom culture.
So when the fanfic randomly popped into my head today after so many years, I decided that the right thing to do was to honour it and read it one more time. Does it technically deserve 5 stars? Probably not. Some things in regards to the writing could certainly be improved. But the plot was just as interesting as I remembered it, and I was still so emotionally invested in those characters whom I loved a long time ago.

So, for the sake of nostalgia, and for all the ways I have changed yet remained the same after so many years , 5 stars ⭐️.

A beautiful story about how love can overcome war. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in world war 2 stories. Once I began reading I couldn't tear my eyes off the screen.

The other day, I had a friend ask me what my favourite book is. I found it more difficult than I thought, and realised as I was listing out some choices, nothing compared to this fanfiction that I had read 8 years ago at the ripe age of 13. Even upon my 6th reread, even at age 21, the impact that this book had and still has on me is astonishing— truly the best fanfiction I have ever read (better than some actual published books), and it really just feels like a normal book!
To think that the best book I’ve ever read is a Hetalia fanfiction… but I promise even if you don’t know anything about Hetalia you will still enjoy this :)

I've actually read this story first, and I'm very impressed, I really love how they communicate and how their relationship blossoms later on, the quotes and scenes in the story is very memorable, the letters that Alfred kept on writing to Arthur, you could really feel what Alfred felt when he wrote it, and the funny part of the story when Francis and Alfred had a wheelchair race and Arthur is dragged by their shenanigans😂
The story makes you feel different emotions
I really enjoyed reading this, I'd gladly re-read this with Auf Wiedersehen, Sweetheart and other stories George made

Holy shit this was beautiful😭 one of the best fanfics I’ve ever read. I don’t usually count fics as “actual reading” or wtv but this time I just😭 can’t help it😭 god that last chapter and that epilogue😭 man I loved this so much
It makes me sad that the author deleted their account and by extension all their works but I’m so glad I found out about them and that someone uploaded them all onto AO3. It makes me sad that we’ll probably never hear from them again but I’m so glad for what they have done, and they have done A LOT.

We'll meet again is an astounding fan fiction that can be read by itself without ever having to watch hetalia. I recommend this to everyone who has an interest in a good historical romance though it will have your heart clinging to every word and have you screaming right with the characters. I also love how even though the point of view is from our bartender Arthur Kirkland it has a air about it almost as if he was writing it himself in the third person. Enjoy the book fellow readers!

More like a 4.5. I absolutely loved this even though it didnt blow my mind. I've read the companion to this story (with Ludwig and Feli) but never this side. I just adore romance like this and how intimate Arthur and Alfred were written. I found this story to be fantastic and made me root for Alfred and Arthur and wish them the best. When it comes to fanfiction this is definitely one of the best, in my opinion.

This was another astonishingly beautiful fan fic. Though I think auf werideshen sweetheart was maybe a bit better, this one was just as good and just as sweet.
There’s something about these fan fics that just seem to capture everything perfectly, and I don’t even ship the two, but there was something that I just loved about there love story. It just made sense.
Also the incorporation of the war songs as the book titles and such meanful parts of the book make it great

We'll Meet Again is one of my favourite books written by George. Along with Auf Weidersehen Sweetheart. Even though it's just fan-fiction, I still adore the story, and the pair. It is very emotional, and has brought me into tears. I love how the book talks about history and romance at the same time. I really recommend this book for anyone who wants to read any of George's books.

One of the most heartbreaking pieces of fan fiction, while I do have some critiques I cannot lie and say that this piece of literature did not affect something deep in me, 5/5 PLEASE READ

This is a re read for me, although I don't remember when I first read it, but I adored it back then, and adore it now again. All of George deValier's stories are beautiful, heartbreaking and so emotional. This one is slightly lower on the heartbreak, but it's still so lovely! It's something I know I'll always come back to.

*Edit
Came back to this again and wow, it just never disappoints. This story makes me smile and cry time and time again.

I already hated USUK (not a fan of romantic relationships where one raised the other, just saying) but absolutely loved DeVailer’s other works so I forced myself to read this and told myself it’s not a Hetalia fanfic. Still was meh.
