Gah so sorry that it took me so long to respond anon, I think this was one of those asks that got hidden and “deleted” at one point because my tumblr inbox is constantly glitching 🫠 I’m just now finding it again which is kind of aggravating
And man, was this such a hard choice. I ended up doing a ranked post, so! From most fat to least fat, here’s four chunky shuttles and my takes on them:
I worked pretty much 2 days straight finishing this piece. But to be fair ‘Tex was always pretty much done. I didn’t think I’d stay focused as well as I did. This piece started out as just a design work, not meant to be turned into a finished piece.
finally got a mer-may piece done…lol. I do have an alt coming at a latter date.
I did follow a tutorial for the background- tutorial by James Julien and is found here.
I learned so much from the tutorial. He does some amazing work!

Look, First Aid's canon design is cute yea. BUT, it is also lazy af.
I could MAYBE forgive First Aid being a Bumblebee recolor IF HE WASN'T A RECOLOR OF HIS EARTH MODE!!! That's just dumb worldbuilding on TOP of the laziness. Like they had so many recolors of that body shell already, the lore explaining it was already laid out.
anyways, i have grown fond of Arcee's weird jet pack thingy so he gets them. plus there are no recorded male characters with them for whatever reason that i can find, despite how many characters have Arcee's frame type in the almanac.
redoing the rest of the protectobots gradually- getting their designs down is like pulling teeth for whatever reason.
I love you, back-up stories in comics. I love you, standalone filler issues by guest teams. I love you, short-story anthologies with titles like “80-Page Giant” and “Secret Files and Origins.” I love you, holiday and seasonal comic anthologies. I love you, standalone prestige-format 48-page graphic novels. I love you, non-canon tales and AUs and Elseworlds. I love you, ongoing series’ with complete, limited story arcs by rotating creative teams. I love you, Annual issues. I love seeing odd, obscure, experimental short works by established creators, whether made before, during, or after their prime. I love you, short stories by new creators who never went on to have a career in comics. I love you, comics I can just hand to someone I like with just one issue or trade paperback and say, “Here, read this, it’s interesting and it stands on its own.” I love you, complete limited storylines. I love you, comics that aren’t dependent on any greater story arc or convoluted event.
I love you all, from the noble failures to the hidden gems to the bizarre experiments to the blandly mediocre stories by people who are just happy to be playing in the sandbox. Despite it all, you’re the heart and soul of why I love superrhero comics.
Whhheewwww… OnOff… the kind of pairing you just want to always be writing something for but can never publish stuff just as constantly because it’s the kind of pairing that is so complex and complicated and kinda fucked up in several ways that just looking at it the wrong way will spawn a VERY SIMPLE IDEA that 1000% always turns into something bigger no matter what.
My favorite pairing though regardless. I love them.
Writing is many tasks. Do whichever ones you can handle and you'll still be making progress.
