Q&A
They literally have a disclaimer for that already the lawsuit wont go anywhere
Did he even read the "do not take advice this is not a medical professional" disclaimer on medical bots?
It’s just like with computer games about 15 to 20 years ago, when politicians were spouting nonsense about how dangerous they supposedly were. This guy is just another self-important politician trying to cast himself as some kind of savior of the people, without realizing that he actually just comes across as a clown.
Add in music and D&D to that list. They always point to a boggie man that doesn't exist. That's their main function. Scare people for votes.
This is another unfortunate case of the “video games cause violence” argument.
Nobody actually listens to those (but it will hold up in a court of law)
Is he stupid? Can these people not read the disclaimer at the bottom or what?
Teacher here. You'd be surprised how many adults in the US do not meet the bare minimum for what adulthood asks of them (48% of adults, based on literacy alone, cannot honestly be trusted to make their own decisions.)
Um, there's already a warning for that tho?
There was one before
Still is (two at the matter of fact: one in yellow above stating that the bot isn't a licensed professional and one at the bottom stating that the bot is a fictional thing and ai and that what it says shouldn't be taken seriously)
All I'm getting from him is that he thinks Pennsylvanians aren't capable of reading disclaimers on their screens.
As I Pennsylvanian I can say that I did successfully read it
Edit: MY FIRST AWARD YEAH!
Edit: 5 awards? GOD DAMN
get a 2nd
1: This guy does not understand that was made by a user, not c.ai directly. 2. This guy also ignored the gigantic warning. 3. He took what the AI designed for fiction said as a fact. He probably asked it "are you a real therapist."
why is this bozo meddling with tech stuff again?
Poor Character.ai. These people won't let us roleplay in peace.
I understand the sentiment, but it's not like C.ai themselves are letting us rp in peace rn either
I don't think it'll hold since there's a literal disclaimer, but whatever.
Sometimes i am reminded that not everyone has common sense
Holy shit, wait... Isn't there warning that the bots are fake?
C.ai stay away from getting sued challenge (impossible)
But also, like...it's called Character AI, there's a disclaimer at the bottom that says it's an AI, and any time you start a chat with an AI based off of a character that is a doctor, lawyer, or a therapist, it gives you an extra disclaimer saying it's not a professional. The only way I could see someone getting fooled by that is if the user is three years old.
At this point, they really have to turn "Everything the character say is made up!" into a christmas tree
me reading this as a Pennsylvanian even though all the bots have a disclaimer saying it’s fiction 😭
Can someone post that image that says when bro is so dumb you just cry
So…? What?
Are they trying to shut the service down or somewhat?
They must be blind if they can’t see this.
Same applies to this as well.
He can't be that stupid. Right? RIGHT???
They are actually just wasting tax payer dollars on a task force for investigating artificial intelligence chatbots, they’re just wasting money at this point, the fact common sense isn’t common anymore tells me a lot about the future of our race.
The hell…
I'm sure Pennsylvanians have enough brain to understand the difference between a real doctor and ai. Apparently, this dude doesn't.
Damn, even my Doctor Who character has huge ass yellow warning flashing me when I open the chat, how could anyone not notice that?
The warning inside the chatbot window renders this guy's speech a moot.
This will be good advertisement to character ai and a chance of getting funds if they go to court.
What's actually funny is that Sharpio's post literally contains links to cai's website. So he's already unintentionally advertising it.
Save the children! Not the parents though. Its not their job. Or the disclaimers. We dont need disclaimers or personal responsibility...
