I have noticed since Silver vs Trunks, Ian Flynn has been throwing Sonic the Hedgehog under the bus these couple years lately to draw negative attention to that franchise to grift off the outrage he creates. Your DC Comics X IDW Sonic the Hedgehog post is an example of him wishing to drag Sonic under the mud by dragging Sonic vs The Flash debate further into inconclusive stalemate.

Because my position is that The Flash would absolutely fucking curb stomp Sonic and acting like it’s even remotely a competition is objectively incorrect.
My problem with the comic is Sonic’s writing. Sonic wouldn’t act so insecure and degenerate into a dick measuring contest with Flash. Even if they were comparable in ability (which they AREN’T and Sonic would be able to recognize that) Sonic would view the chance to race someone as fast as him as fun and wouldn’t instigate competitive repartee.
The comic WOULD make sense if A: Sonic and Flash were relatively equal in speed, which they aren’t, and B: if FLASH was the one who started being a competitive douchebag to Sonic, because THEN Sonic would give as good as he gets, but that’s not what happens in the comic instead Sonic is the one who immediately starts acting pissy towards Flash for literally no reason.
THIS ISN’T SONIC. THIS IS NOT HOW SONIC WOULD RESPOND TO THAT. Flash ISN’T being an asshole here. Flash is saying this in good faith as a hero talking to whom he perceives to be a civilian, and Sonic would RECOGNIZE THAT. He might instead say something like “hey, thanks! But since you’re new here, let me show you the way first” and THEN speed off ahead of Flash in a cheeky little demonstration that they are peers.
Instead in the comic he responds with “PSSSH FUCK YOU IDIOT LOSER DUMBASS, I’M ACTUALLY BETTER THAN YOU AND AWESOME LOOK AT HOW GREAT I AM ACTUALLY!” creating a conflict for no reason. Because this isn’t Sonic. This is Steve the hedgehog aka ARCHIE SONIC because Ian Flynn is a fuckwit who doesn’t understand Sonic’s character.
