Last post of 2025! Featuring some nostalgia

image

I woke up in the middle of the night the other day and just randomly remembered this game existed. I managed to find it and replayed it and got so overwhelmed with nostalgia, I really wanted to draw the characters. @pacthesis was a huge artist and writer inspiration to me as a kid, I loved all of their games. I think I even 100% completed Number Days? (also my favorite was always Lena)

Anyway. This one was for 12 year old me. Happy New Year

went to a gathering and people were pressing me about the low sodium thing cause “if i know where you went wrong then i will be safe”

anyway what i got wrong:

1) thinking i can just eat a lotta salt one day and be ok for a while

  • if you pee every day- you need sodium DAILY

2) “i mean i eat stuff with salt and i can just sip water to stay hydrated right?”

  • if ur like me and ur not paying attention: ur not getting enough sodium and ur sipping habit is putting too much water in ur body (ur piss should be light yellow- not clear)

3) not wanting to go to the hospital and believing i could sleep it off

  • when sodium gets too low you can’t fix it urself
  • and raising ur sodium too fast will kill you
  • im alive cause people and support brought my body there

4) assuming hyponatremia / low sodium is rare and only happens to athletes, those in hot weather, people doing drinking contests- people who are not me

in my case:

  1. first bad sign: clear piss, low energy (want to emphasize i was like this for a while- maybe a “long time” even- if you asked me how i felt i would’ve said totally fine, normal- seems like nothing is wrong with a functioning bridge but if a weak beam goes well now its a problem huh)
  2. but then it escalated to headache, nausea and puking
  3. then i made it worse and turned it into an ER situation by chugging gatorade and water (i was scared of dehydration from all the puking)

anyway how to probably not turn low sodium into an ER situation:

but if you can i guess its a good idea to just avoid low sodium in the first place

i’ll give myself one point where i got something right (even though it didn’t save me lol):

1) i went to the doctor for an annual physical / blood panels less than a year ago

  • doc said i was “extremely healthy”
  • sodium levels were normal
  • everything was good

but i like the universe has a sense of humor and im not above being a punchline

probably still a good idea to go to the doctor whatever im not ur mom

hyponatremia

im not kidding applebees all you can eat nearly killed me

had a great time

absolutely would do it again

PSA 1: if ur throwing up don’t chug water and gatorade cause ur scared of dehydration (suck on ice cubes instead)

PSA 2: more than 32 oz of water per hour is probably too much (about a liter, roughly 2 “typical sized” water bottles- ur pee should be light yellow- not clear!)

PSA 3: if ur like me and you mindlessly sip water throughout the day AND/OR eating out makes you drink a lot of water/fluids and you have a habit of fasting when ur not hungry: that can be dangerous

im SO lucky to be alive and ok

i’ve written a long detailed diary entry mostly cause i want to comprehend what happened and never forget this:

told pizza man they say ppl can get “the blues” after these trips and he was like “yea i kinda get em- its so fun and i really like taking pictures with you” and i was like “oh you *like* taking the pictures? i thought you went along with it cause you like making me happy” lol

i let the dental hygienist talk me into using my HSA to get a whitening kit

was like sure why not cause i’ve never done whitening and i assumed i’ll go through all this trouble and effort to conclude its not worth it but hey i tried it so you (and future me) won’t have to!

i left these strips on my teeth for like 20-30 mins every day for 10 days straight

(didn’t stop drinking coffee or tea btw cause i mean i don’t smoke or drink or do whatever the snowflake emoji means but that doesn’t mean i don’t party)

did it work? sure why not idk

was it worth it? imo no

  • costed like 95 USD
  • teeth/gums got a bit more sensitive to brushing and eating hot/cold/hard things
  • slight bleeding sometimes (not that bad tbh)
  • putting on the strips once a day for 25 mins-ish is easy but a pain in the ass
