About Non-Resident Enrollment

Detroit Public Schools Community District may now enroll non-resident students* under Section 105 and Section 105c of the State School Aid Act (MCL 388.1705c[19]).

Please visit the Enrollment Page to find information on the enrollment process and required documents. Please note there are additional considerations that must be met for our examination and application schools.

For the 26-27 School Year, School of Choice students of all grade levels are accepted throughout the entire open enrollment window, starting in March and going through the first week of school (August 28th).

Please Note: Some programs included in Act 18 (Special Education) are not available to non-residents; contact the Exceptional Student Education Department for more information.

*There is no cost for School of Choice students. However, no transportation is provided for School of Choice students. The District may refuse to enroll a non-resident student that is or has been suspended during the past two years or has been expelled.
