🌐 Translation Add/Update: Chinese (Simplified)

Based on #524 Deleted the wrong spelling branch and re-PR with co-author and correct branch name
Based on #517, which already provided a solid foundation for the Chinese localization,
This pull request completes the remaining untranslated parts(The original translator XMxmx111 has translated some of the content perfectly) — specifically images, loading animations, and other UI-related content.

Specifically:

  • ✅ Translated INI documentation entries into Mandarin - Simplified Chinese.
  • 🖼️ Added translations for UI images where applicable (e.g., loading screens, interface elements, launcherupdater, legaltext etc...).
  • 🔄 Included translations for loading animations and related text prompts.

All translations aim to preserve consistency with existing language style and follow the original context accurately.Meanwhile Chinese-Traditional(zh-hant) is on the way.
Please review and let us know if any adjustments are needed. TQVM

It's great to see that a complete Chinese translation has been developed after waking up - I was still struggling with some terms a while ago! Perhaps I should close my PR.

This PR appears to be better suited as a draft, as the translation is not yet complete. Additionally, some translated terms deviate from the official Traditional Chinese version and established player conventions — for example:
"地狱冰封" → "冰天雪地"
(where "冰天雪地" is the standard term used in both official localization and community practice).
This will require ongoing discussion to align terminology standards.

I seriously doubt whose translation theory/philosophy is used upwards. Original text correspondence oriented, or reader acceptance oriented. A ZH-Hans translation should respect it's main user group. A self-proclaimed "better, newer" translation if not accepted by it's targeted audiance is usually called self-satisfaction. As for the survey part. If you do want a survey about translation quality, it can be carried on. If again it falls to "whether this can represent" question, it would prove "self-satisfaction".

Some modders here just don't want to speak directly about translation quality for manner traditions. So they bring up other "offtopic" things. I suggest them to speak it straight.

And yes.

Hello, RA2DIY admin here.

Noted. While RA2DIY is indeed a long-standing community, seniority alone doesn’t automatically validate terminology choices especially when language usage evolves over time.

If it's not seniority then what is it that 'validates terminology'? I don't believe you are at a position that is representative for the majority of Chinese users, are you?

**⚠This translation project is tailored to a modern, general-use deployment package. It does not follow legacy assumptions from any single forum or modding group. The fact that DIY refers to a forum founded in 2003 is irrelevant to the current user-facing UI context, particularly when no recent surveys or empirical user studies have been cited to support those preferences.

What should 'recent surveys' look like? I would like to see it, in case you have one.

Exactly, based on your word, Nobody can be really representative for the all of Chinese users, We've repeated this many times
Regarding surveys, I'm asking how you conduct surveys when producing translations.

Some of guys said "hey, We prefer to receive progressive suggestions"
So could you please share the content and details of your surveys? Also, do you think it's reasonable to never update a translation?
Or do you have any method to ensure that the translation is acceptable to the vast majority of people? What is the statistical method you guys used?

And yes. Hello, RA2DIY admin here.

I noticed your comment essentially echoes what I’ve already stated that translation should either follow source text fidelity or user-centered readability while it's a good point tho, and that the latter usually matters more in practice. The key question remains: has RA2DIY ever conducted any recent survey or user study to validate that its translations truly reflect current player language habits? If so, when and how? Because from our perspective, what we’re proposing isn’t about being “self-proclaimed better”
Regarding the issue of avoiding translation quality, as you can see now, if we ignore quality, we won't make so many commits and discussions, which is why we are here.
You can't always choose between quality and quantity, Sometimes you have to compromise based on certain user habits instead of sticking to your previous translation. That's why you need version iterations. Outdated things deserve to be questioned. But I believe that at least experience can be learned and shared, such as the work process It is not objective to infer that most players agree with this translation based on the large number of players.

well it’s about aligning with evolving language norms. Languages change, user expectations change, and software must update accordingly. No software (or translation) can stay relevant by freezing in time. That’s why continuous delivery exists. Ironically, when people avoid talking about translation quality and instead shift focus to unrelated issues, it often suggests the original quality wasn’t strong enough to defend outright. We’re open to genuine data-backed discussion, but vague appeals to tradition don’t override the need for usability. At the end of the day, we just want clarity: are users comfortable with this translation because of genuine usability, or simply because they got used to what they were given?
More details of your work are expected to be shared

At present, the PR suggestions for vocabulary changes have been almost all modified. You are welcomed to locate the translation files and make suggestions for any words that are still unreasonable for further modification.

Thanks for your "kind" words. However, resorting to metaphorical taunts and vague hand gestures doesn’t strengthen your argument.

It simply avoids the core discussion. Accusing others of "arrogant prejudice" without addressing the actual points raised is not a rational rebuttal, nor does it reflect the respectful tone you claim to value.

Seniority does not exempt one from scrutiny, especially when community-facing content like translations are involved. Respect is earned through open dialogue and accountability, not assumed through vague authority.
If there is genuine reasoning behind the decisions made, feel free to present them clearly. Otherwise, dismissing questions as “nonsense” while refusing to engage in any constructive detail unfortunately reads more like emotional deflection than principled discussion.

Your dull reply is, frankly, nonsense. Your word reminded me nmp package-lock and other events, You are advised to calm down and discuss based on facts and evidence, rather than emotional bias and arrogance.

We’re here to improve the project, not to play status games. If someone "has cards," as you metaphorically put it, let it be based on logic, data, and contribution — not attitude.

This is an abuse of PR commentary when you're playing meme, and it's not the way to introduce your self as "Admin of DIY"
Your words and identity are in clear conflict as a so called "Admin"

Make sure you learn and really understand the GitHub Community Guidelines before using github here, If someone can't even follow basic rules, they have no business calling themselves an admin.

Hey, look, dude, we have been living in China mainland for a couple of decades, and we have good understanding (if not knowledge) about what should sound 'natural' to 1.5 billion people.

What you have suggested sounds very unnatural, so it will not be accepted. It's simple like that.

You seem to be getting emotional, but I’ll stay on topic. So far, you have not provided any concrete suggestions or linguistic rationale, instead, you’ve repeatedly abused the PR comment system with off-topic taunts, vague gestures, and thinly veiled personal attacks.

Regarding your earlier remark “It is not without a reason that those people have gained their seniority, and they deserve respectfulness” I honestly can’t tell if you were trying to justify your own position or speak for others. Either way, invoking seniority as a substitute for logic is not an argument. It’s a fallacy.

Also, your mention of having lived in mainland China for decades is irrelevant. Language evolves. Being familiar with past usage does not automatically qualify one to override others' views on current naturalness, especially without any data or linguistic evidence. Frankly, your insistence sounds like the classic trap of “I’ve been around longer, therefore I must be right.” That’s not how open collaboration works.

And lastly please stay rational. You do not need to deflect criticism with sarcasm or cryptic metaphors to cover up prior inappropriate and dismissive behavior. That only further proves the misuse of this space. Kindly remember that GitHub’s community guidelines apply to everyone, and what you’re doing fits the definition of abuse more than discussion.

As we can see, you escalated the situation and even ignored the questions when we asked you about your translation experience, and you were really arrogant and aggressive.

I am archiving this screenshot as evidence.

I suspect you might not fully grasp the true meaning behind your own words. If you did, you wouldn’t be abusing the PR comment section with sarcastic jabs, cryptic jokes, or personal attacks. Attacking a volunteer contributor especially when you claim to be an “Admin” is not only unfair but also ethically questionable.

🔴We are concerned and regretful about your sarcastic, hostile remarks and your apparent intention to escalate the situation.

We are all here to discuss and improve the project. Meaningful dialogue requires respect and openness, not hostility. While others focus on constructive feedback, your tone and approach have been aggressive and disruptive, which only stalls progress instead of pushing it forward.
I sincerely hope you can take a step back, reflect, and join the discussion with the calm and professionalism that benefits the entire community.
If you really want to help, you can offer suggestions calmly instead of blaming and slandering others.

Kindly note that there is no point for you and me to argue. You are full of hate speech. I believe that language was invented to promote friendly communication rather than deepen misunderstanding and conflict. 三思而后行 (Think twice before you act)

Let's go back, I'm still curious about why you're so irritable, or what specific word or sentence irritates you. Could you point it out instead of making a personal attack? That's uncultured in 2025.
I mean you could use "quote" like this to point it out exactly

Well... I'm simply curious about the language environment in which you were educated. Could it be that there’s a misunderstanding between us or perhaps a misinterpretation of certain English terms on your end?

I'm genuinely puzzled why a normal question could be taken as something that made you angry. As someone who identifies as an “Admin,” you should also know that issues should not be handled emotionally. In case there's any misunderstanding from you, I'm willing to repeat it in Chinese for clarity if you want

What I want to say is: there's really no need to argue over this it benefits no one. True strength/experience never comes from mocking others to elevate oneself. Are you perhaps very skilled at debating others? Though, to be honest, such things don’t belong here and shouldn't take over a collaborative space like this.

btw There's no need for you to gather a bunch of sockpuppet accounts just to give your own comments a series of thumbs-ups or to show artificial support :)

So, what evidence do you have to support the claim that I’ve “refused to make any changes”? If I hadn't taken any suggestions, then where did all these commits under this PR come from? It’s clear that I’ve been actively incorporating feedback. why do you think i/we refused to make any changes while we already commited 200+ times as u can see here? Your conclusions don't match real-time data
image

Why are you attacking a volunteer who is contributing selflessly to this project? Any unpaid contributor deserves respect. Your sarcastic remarks toward someone who is simply trying to help are not only unfair, but also morally inappropriate. Imagine nobody pay them to contribue here and you ridicule them?! OK but why, at least you should have a reason

You're free to disagree with someone's suggestions that's part of open collaboration but turning it into a personal attack crosses the line. And if your intent is to launch meaningless personal attacks, GitHub is not the place for that. Please take it somewhere else instead of abusing this platform.

I have heard of this PR yesterday from Kenosis. After a quick glance (there's really hundreds of posts so couldn't read one by one, sorry) we had a discussion about the proficiency of this author and the conclusion was that they do not seem to be a skillful speaker of Chinese. I suggest the translation be taken over by some trusted users, especially because this PR is from some known person (people?) with distorted behavior.

@Metadorius If you investigate further, you will find that lhmouse's comments are too subjective and malicious, and they are not normal criticism or constructive opinions. He has not made any effort. It is an objective fact worth pointing out that Chinese translation is currently the least efficient among all languages.

I've already addressed the fact that LH_Mouse went bit too far with the sarcastic comment and asked him not to do that. This is not comparable in any way to repeated abuse and hostility that proceeded in response, and such won't be tolerated.

By the way, this is the second time the directed attacks happen on people who are disagreeing or criticising the translation or the authors. This is very far from making a good image and I am already considering not accepting this pull request purely because of those attacks and the behavior from the parties seemingly associated with the PR starter.
