Book 4 is releasing on Amazon on January 28th and will be stubbing here on January 20th-ish. (Chapters 217 to 287 plus the Epilogues)

After being killed by a high-velocity tree-hug, Arlo is transported to a new world of skills, stats, and levels where those brave and talented enough to conquer ancient Delves are rewarded with incredible supernatural power. Unfortunately for Arlo, there is no tutorial, and he is immediately forced to tackle a Delve set to the highest difficulty with a party of adventurers who are not only strangers to him, but strangers to each other as well. Arlo has no armor, no weapons, no knowledge of the world at large, and his party is growing increasingly suspicious of his lack of preparation and paper-thin excuses for how he got there.

There's also the fact that the System seems to be treating Arlo's situation like a big, cosmic joke.

Determined not to die again, Arlo forgoes putting any points into his highest stat, Intelligence, and instead dumps everything he's got into Fortitude. After all, who needs equipment or fighting skills when you can eat fireballs for breakfast and still ask for more hot sauce?

Mage Tank is a comedic LitRPG adventure set in an epic fantasy world that is rapidly evolving as new and powerful secrets of the Delves are uncovered. There are strong horror themes, graphic violence, overindulgent use of naughty language, and poorly constructed jokes. Mage Tank features slow progression and intelligent characters who spend time making intentional build choices. It’s not action all-the-time, but Arlo’s life is replete with danger and, more importantly, consequences.

This is the great story about a man who had a epic battle against a mighty tree and found himself wanting, after his death against such a powerful foe he is (reincarnated?, reconstructed?, revived?) In a Delve (basically a dungeon), learning the consequences of being so squishy he dumps all his stats on Fortitude, disgerarding his high Intelligence score, now fully equipped with just an amulet and his new full beard and mustache he goes on where he finds another 4 people who are of nobility and the leader decides to challenge the Delve in the highest difficulty without consulting others.

Style: excellent, altough the system messages and such are easy to understand, when the party talks, not so much.

Story: okay first of all, i like the story, but i am the only one who sees He Who Fights With Monsters but with tankiness instead of stealth and stabby stabby? (Light spoilers for both:)

- the gods pop anytime

- dude has a penchant for trouble and wears flamboyant colors

- all people here are hotter than him

- negotiates with divinities or the System

(Also a character its like Jake Thayne, scaled, alchemist, archer)

Again i have nothing but love for this series but i needed to get that out of my chest, on a positive note i love the Nen like system from HunterxHunter

Grammar: i have not seen grammar mistakes till now.

Characters: well done and funny interactions.

Great start and interesting plot

Reviewed at: 38 - Main Quest Progression

I love the story so far. I don't usually bother writing reviews unless a story resonates with me. The following will provide a breakdown of my reasons for giving Mage Tank a 5-star review across the board.

The story plot is well developed so far. Although still young, Mage Tank has room for a lot of growth in the lore department. The power system is unique and number-based. It hasn't been confusing so far (if you pay attention!). The pacing of the plot has been good as well, with the hero being thrown into a platinum difficulty Delve right from the start. With all the unique skills and powers that people receive when they Delve, the power system and the breadth of things that can be done is very wide.

The world-building is also quite unique. There are pictures of maps that help you visualise the world. there are many different types of people populating it. Many layers of the world have yet to be explored. The population also seem to include not just humans but humanoids and other sentient creatures that are almost inhuman

The characters have been unique and well-fleshed out. Each character has their own personality and behaves while staying true to their character. While the MC is a pleasure to read about, the other characters are developing nicely into their own.

The grammar is good and I can't stress enough how important that is for me to be able to properly enjoy a story.

Overall, I am excited to see where this story goes.

Yes. The cover is bad. Yes. Pink feathered scarf and glasses. Yes. Chad looking dude and all.

Please, don't let the cover dissuade you from reading this master piece. I only needed 22 chapters to love it, and I'm quite rigorous with what I read.

The story is captivating and the plot moves along very well.

The characters are vivid and well though. The MC is incredibly funny and the humor is on point. The author doesn't even need to try, his writing is superb and the characters reflect it.

The system is quirky in a incredible good way, I thought I wouldn't like it like that but I was so very wrong.

The pace is perfectly balanced to intrigue and immerse the reader. Very few novels here are like that so I hats off. This is my quickest review, the first 20 chapters are good and don't drag but after that it snowballed into a unholy amalgamation of pure bliss, comedy, creativity, originality and adventure.

I can't recommend this enough and I'm ashamed it sat on my read latter list for so long. 20 chapters is all it takes to really get into it and now I can't stop.

Please help.

Don't miss on this amazing story, portrayed by amazing character, in an incredible vivid and detailed world.

Thank you author.

Great novel, worth your read

Reviewed at: 33 - Lito the Bloodhound

First the bad: is a litrpg isekai story. It is an overused, hackneyed, trite format. The author's writing NEEDS to shine if he wants his novel to carve a place in the saturated market.

Fortunately, the writing shines.

This webnovel has fantastic storytelling, rounded characters, better dialogues and, on top of hall, great humor sense.

Do you know how hard is that? Making good jokes that don't fall flat?

Shut up and start reading!

Truly a banger.

Mage Tank ascends to my top 3 all-time LitRPG series with this installment. First and foremost this series has a great MC. Arlo's intelligence is presented in a way that breaks the cliche mold of egghead brainiacs who are frail and awkward. He's brash, silly, philosophical, and eminently entertaining.

The side characters are also endowed with lively backstory, unique powers and aesthetics, and personal motivations that cause them to stand out. The pace in this novel is excellent, I breezed through this chonk, loving every second of it. The overarching plot which began to coalesce in book one takes on compelling definition in book 2 while still leaving tantalizing mysteries to entice the reader.

The worldbuilding significantly expanded in this sequel and in particular the LitRPG elements came forward a bit, shoring up a minor complaint I had for book one. If you enjoy this genre, Mage Tank is significantly above par in terms of prose and character development when compared with the field.

Bottom line: this series is a lot of fun. It's easy to read. It has well-developed and likeable characters. The protagonist is a standout when compared to other LitRPG titles with superficial personalities that lack the voice and unique perspective Arlo brings to the table. The writing is elevated well above the often churned out feel of much of the genre. This book had some truly epic and memorable fight scenes. And it's funny!

A brilliant start to a thoroughly enjoyable story

Reviewed at: 35 - An Entirely Inadequate Dungeon

The character expressed through the first person narrative is really solid and the magic and intrigue of the world had me binging the first 30 chapters in one sitting. Great balance of comedy, progression and a great gimmick for the protagonist. Looking forward to seeing Arlo grow and can't wait to see where this goes!

Do your self a favor and read

Great and fun read, Fresh take for a saturated genre.

The Comedy might be a bit too much sometimes but I am all for it, The World building is amazing The system running the dungeons is not generic, very mysterious and  I enjoy discovering bits and pieces thrown in each chapter.

The characters although a bit shallow still feel alive in their own way, The MC is the type of person who you would be happy to be around; funny, charismatic, etc. but hides his problems/insecurities deep inside, So I am glad he gets someone to be open with.

Better than average

This story is decent, nothing super great and so far no glaring flaws either.

Good stuff.

World building, internally consistent plot progression

Bad stuff.

The Humor (personal taste may differ), the tangents. Trying to combine the humor and tangents (several paragraphs of jokes unrelated to the story really drop the immersion every time it happens)

A fantastic concept

Reviewed at: 44 - We Can't Stop Here!

With comedy similar to 'he who fights with monsters' and very interesting concept I can't wait to see how this develops. The magic seems well thought out and stats have key evolution points to keep it interesting and not lose meaning at higher levels. Plus who doesn't like a man in a feather boa and shades.

No plot, just blue screens

Reviewed at: 367 - Inner Sanctum

I read the first 2 books on KU and then dropped the 3rd book. The down hill slide is incredible. Plot, character development, and world building are all discarded in favor of an endless series of skill and item descriptions. The MC is a “mage tank” who is neither a mage nor a tank. His magic is flaccid and most consists of throwing hammers while his tanking is just having enough HP to survive disembowlment every fight.

Putting the word Pause in the middle of every sentence by one of the party members is also an insane choice. It’s so grating and unnecessary.
