Too Dang Hot by EM

#2 in the Dog Days Of Summer series

“You wanna play horseshoes.”

“It’s too hot, Johnny.”

“No it ain’t.”

“No, it isn’t,” Scott corrected.

“That’s what I said.”

“No, you said,” sighing in frustration, Scott swung off his horse and muttered, “Forget it.”

Johnny followed his brother into the barn, leading his horse.  Taking a minute for his eyes to adjust to the darkness, he asked again.  “Horseshoes?”

Shaking his head, Scott responded, “Alright Johnny, set them up.”

Trotting across the yard to the horseshoe pit, Johnny picked up two horseshoes and flung them wildly. “Ah sh..shoot. They’re too da..dang hot!”

“Told you,” Scott grinned as he went into the shade of the veranda and poured himself a cool glass of lemonade.
