Scott groaned as he looked out his window to see nothing. Just white. He rubbed his eyes and looked again. Sure enough, still there. Getting dressed, he struggled to get his left boot on and swore as he hopped in place.
In the kitchen, Scott thanked Maria for breakfast and realized he was lonely with his family off to Stockton.
Heading out the door, he almost collided with Jelly.
“Where ya goin’ in such a hurry?”
“Sorry Jelly. I had my mind on other things. What is this?”
Jelly pulled his suspenders out and rocked back on his heels. “Fog dew. Can’t see your hand in front of yer face, and you’ll get wet just riding through it. But don’t worry none, my bones are telling’ me it’s gonna rain soon, and then you’ll just be wet, but at least you can see.”
Then Jelly disappeared into the fog.
