It's very annoying to be doing this in the Japanese suburbs. We really value peace and quiet and chanting like this in public, especially in a foreign language, is considered very rude.

Most of our streets, especially in Tokyo, are extremely crowded. Praying in public is seen as a serious nuisance.

Our new prime minister is quite interesting. Japanese people in general avoid too much physical contact but she seems to really understand how to deal with foreign leaders. Some people are complaining but I personally think she's quite intelligent!
