More Than One Drop by SandySha

Word Count 150

Inspired by Suzanne’s story ‘One Drop’   as part of the ’28 Days of Rain’ Challenge

2nd in the Rain Series

Crossing the yard from the barn to the hacienda, Scott began to run when the heavens opened, and the downpour started.  Reaching the portico, he looked back to see Johnny standing in the middle of the yard, head turned skyward, his mouth open.

“Johnny!” Scott yelled to be heard over the deluge.

Misting, spitting, pattering, pelting, and gully washer.  Johnny had heard it all, but no one knew what it really meant who had never had enough of it.

 “It’s raining.”

“I can see that.  Now, come inside.”

Murdoch opened the French doors and stepped out to stand next to his oldest.  “What’s he doing?”

Scott shook his head.  “It looks like he’s trying to catch raindrops with his mouth.”

“John?”

Johnny’s face had a look of pure joy on it.

“Look at it, Murdoch.  It’s more than one drop…” Then, in almost a whisper.  “More than just a drop.”
