The Ministry for Primary Industries’ ambitious export-double initiative launched in mid-2025. It aims to double export revenues from the primary sector by 2034 and to boost the economic and environmental performance of New Zealand’s food and fibre sector.


Our business panel will focus on:

  1. Growth and sustainability initiatives in the Hort Sector, including: achieving year-round supply; development of new premium varieties; plant-variety-right protection; innovation and agri-tech solutions; and
  2. Headwinds and challenges currently being faced: tariffs; non-tariff trade barriers; access to sufficient seasonal labour for harvesting, packing, etc; climate change impacts; local regulatory settings; and broader geopolitical issues
