You know that meme that has the caption "Do nothing. Win." with a picture of Xi Jinping? Someone should make an edit of that that replaces Xi with Mark Carney.

I just found out about another Gravity Falls zine that recently finished! From what I can tell, it was from the Russian community and only through the website VK?
vk.com/zinebefa
It's the same zine that these three illustrations were for:
twitter qoolk_is_cool/status/1938259354962043067
twitter SharleneHopes/status/1938358345993224419
twitter eezjik/status/1938120316825571824
I don't know if there's a digital version. On the bright side, I live in the US and was able to download VK's mobile app through google's playstore and make an account with my US phone number just fine. I logged into the website on my desktop pc afterwards by scanning a qr code on the page with my phone.
I'm not sure what your thoughts are on trying to archive non-EN zines as well, and I have no idea what other ones might be out there for Gravity Falls, but I figure that since I recognize some additional known EN fandom artists among their contributors (like SamFannar and cherryviolets), it might be reachable for you!

Oh wow, thank you so much for letting me know about this. Looked into that zine on the VK page and it’s pretty cool looking. Seems the page was originally for a Good Omens fanzine and then became a GF zine project.
The art for it is amazing. The Russian Gravity Falls fandom is full of so many amazingly talented people and is still so underrated in the English fandom. I’ve always wanted to dive deeper into that part of the community one day. There always seems like there’s something cool going on with GF fans in Russia. In a lot of ways, they seem to care about Gravity Falls more than Disney ever has (then again, we all probably care about GF more than the mouse).
I have looked into some non English fanzines to archive, such as a few Japanese zines that I was told about, but those ended up being more so comic compilation books by individual artists instead of a zine project and others had some…not really PG content in them if you get what I mean. I’m only really after SFW fanzines to archive for obvious reasons. This one of course looks to be a zine that is totally safe and worth archiving.
My rules for zine archival basically are that the zine needs to be fully completed and has no prospects of ever being sold again. Given many of these zines are charity projects, I obviously don’t wanna freely make available something that is still being used to make money for a good cause. Hence why, although I bought a copy of it years back, I’m not gonna be releasing a download of the old Wayfaring Strangers zine, as the team behind it still makes it available to buy every now and then. Other zines like Epilogue or Summer Memories of course are fair game as they’re long over projects that never again will be sold. So for zines like that, archiving is beyond important.
As for this zine, given there are some names attached to it that I know like Cherryviolets, I might ask Cherry about it and see if there’s a digital copy of the zine that can be shared, if the project is completed that is. Of course, if there’s anyone who did buy that fanzine and has a copy to share, please either get in touch or publish it somewhere anyone can access it like the Internet Archive. If I find it and get permission to do so, I will of course publish it to my IA page without question.
I strongly believe all Gravity Falls fans should have free access to these fanzines once they are finished, as a means to preserve and archive them. What’s the point of gatekeeping these things long after they are finished and never to be sold again? I want new fans to enjoy these as much as old fans who bought them did. And that’s why I do the archiving work that I’ve been doing.
The internet isn’t as permanent as people tell you. Media goes lost every single day. And if no one is archiving this stuff or trying to find the people who have them, then it’s lost forever. Being a data hoarder in this day and age is not only good but should be more encouraged. There is always a chance that one day, something you saved off the internet years ago and is sitting in a forgotten drive, is something someone else has spent years trying to track down. Lost Media cases often come down to the right person saving the right thing and being able to find out and share what they got.
Hopefully this zine is out there too. Cause I would hate to see this become lost media.
Update on this! I spoke to @cherryviolets about this zine.
Apparently the mods behind this zine have no plans to make a digital copy and not even the artists have gotten a printed version yet.
Really hoping they do cause it’s a pretty good looking zine with some great artists involved like cherry of course.

Will you ever write fanfics for Gravity Falls again?
Well, rn, after writing 22 Short Stories from Gravity Falls, I kind of wanna take a break.
Does that mean I’ll ever write fanfics for GF again? Well, I can’t 100% promise anything at the moment.
But while I do have ideas I may try to write in the future, for now, I’m done with GF fanfics.

YOU HAVE A TUMBLR??? IVE BEEN WATCHING UR VIDS FOR A WHILE AND I WAS LIKE...
I think I recognize that username from somewhere
HUHH????
lol, thank you so much. Appreciate the kind words and thank you for watching my silly videos :P
I originally made this Tumblr page in 2019 to share my old Gravity Falls Amino work but eventually just made it a spam blog for reblogging various fanart and content for GF and also other stuff I love like aviation, cars and old school NYC skyline pics, lol.
Sadly I never was able to claim THE That GF FAN handle as if you look, @thatgffan was claimed by some Once-ler stan in 2013. That’s not a joke btw as this is the blog of the owner of the thatgffan handle. Worst of all is that they never even used the blog and just claimed the handle.
Sadly the owner has long gone inactive, so there’s no real way probably to get it from them. Though it would be funny if they ever logged in and found a bunch of people following that blog, thinking it’s me.
GIVE ME THE THATGFFAN HANDLE, YOU ONCE-LER STAN, LMAO JK!!

patrick mchale (creator of otgw and friend of alex) has followed the account within the past hour too, just an interesting observation
That’s interesting. Could mean nothing but also could mean something huge too.
Maybe they’re both collaborating on this

So, I know we all give praise to New Zealand for how it handled COVID-19, but we should also give a lot of praise to Australia, because while they didn't handle it as excellently as NZ, they still handled it pretty well if you look through their COVID stats.
Yeah. I’d say the same about Canada. We have made mistakes and they are ones that have made things worse on occasion, but overall, Canada, while not perfect, has done a pretty good job in handling COVID too.
Though, let’s be honest, even all 3 of these countries combined have, even with their mistakes, handled it far better than the US.

I just realized that Canadian teams have won the MLB's World Series and the NBA Finals more recently than a Canadian team has won the Stanley Cup Finals. You Canadians have been investing in the wrong sport. lol
Fun fact, hockey isn’t even our main national sport. It shares the title with lacrosse. Weird given when was the last time anyone cared about that sport? Though be it, given we invented basketball, it makes sense we now rule the sport.
And now the NBA season is suspended, it looks like the Raptors will hold the title for a little longer :P
I still remember the night they won well. Toronto was hyped, and we all celebrated till dawn. It really was a great way to start the summer :)
Started from the bottom, now we here!

If given the opportunity, would you visit Oregon (or the Pacific Northwest in general)?
Yes! I’ve always loved the Pacific Northwest, before Gravity Falls too. It’s such a peaceful looking place. Next to seeing the tourist traps, I’d love seeing the Boeing factory in Everett and of course, The Bill statue.
