School-work programmes with Milano Cortina 2026
Soft skills in the sports sector
From classroom teaching to work in the field at large sports events. A project centred on the school-work programme.
Milano Cortina 2026 supports the Italian national school-work programme (PCTO – Paths for Soft Skills and Orientation). The goal is to introduce students in the last three years of secondary school to the world of international sports event organisation, building on work aspects and professional outlets while bringing students to the sports sector. The project also aims to encourage the connection between local sports event organising committees, sports federations and local schools to guarantee a legacy for the country even after 2026, creating a long-lasting bond between schools and sports events.
Connection between schools and sports, innovation and legacy
The school-work programmes are dedicated to students in Further Education. They consist of an initial theoretical and general part on the Olympics and Paralympics delivered by the Milano Cortina 2026 team, followed by a practical session presented with the support of regional Olympic and Paralympic committees. The students therefore have the opportunity to understand work in the field as volunteers at a large sports event. This is a unique opportunity for young people, but also a way to encourage the transfer of skills and intergenerational experiences, bringing added value and new professionalism to organising committees, local sports structures, public entities and institutions.
