Since the candidature phase, Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 has undertaken to adopt measures to maximise the adoption of more sustainable practices, both environmental and social, respecting its availability of economic resources, in the awareness that the term "sustainable event" in absolute terms is not correct.

Yes, the Games Delivery Programme (the set of planning, organization and communication activities), under the responsibility of Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 as the Organizing Committee, has been subjected to Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA). The procedure involved the Lombardy and Veneto Regions, and the Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano. The first phase saw the presentation and approval of the Preliminary Report. In the second phase, the Draft Programme accompanied by the Environmental Report were made available to the public and observations were collected from bodies, associations and citizens. The revised and supplemented documents, taking into account the observations, are now available to the Joint Olympic Council (COC) and the Competent and Proposing Authorities for final approval by the Regional Councils. This will be followed by a phase of monitoring the organization of the Games with the implementation of measures for the protection of the environment.

In organizing a major event, many production sectors are involved, from energy supplies to transport, from catering to cleaning management, from culture (artists, technicians, etc.) to logistics and digital technologies. Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 is committed to asking its Suppliers, Licensees and Sponsors to adopt measures to reduce environmental and social impacts in their respective supply chains and to innovate with a view to sustainable development as described in the Summary Sustainable Sourcing Strategy.

Fondazione adopts policies to prevent any form of discrimination in the workplace, promoting a culture of respect and protection of rights. It also develops a system for preventing and monitoring abusive or discriminatory behavior during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in order to guarantee everyone a safe and positive experience, promoting safeguarding policies among stakeholders, partners and the Italian sports world. It also requires a commitment from its Suppliers, Licensees, Partners and other stakeholders to take concrete action to respect human rights throughout the supply chain.

The Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 has published the first Italian edition of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Portrayal Guidelines, which contains valuable guidance for promoting fair and respectful gender portrayal in communications related to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Movement. The Portrayal Guidelines are a reference tool to improve the portrayal of women and men in sport, thus contributing to building a more inclusive and respectful sporting environment.
