Accessibility is a prerequisite for inclusion and social participation.
Our goal is to approach universal accessibility, in line with the provisions of art. 2 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Law 18/2009). This means:
- Promote the active participation of people with physical, visual, hearing and intellectual-relational disabilities, working on environmental, behavioral, linguistic factors and with the aim of achieving an inclusive approach.
- Offering full participation in Milano Cortina 2026 and a fulfilling path for everyone, free of any barriers or discrimination.
- Consider the needs and desires of each person, regardless of their condition, disability, age, linguistic, cultural and gender difference.
- Aiming for the environmental wellbeing of spaces and territories involved in the Games and leaving a positive material and immaterial legacy.
- Promote the Universal Design approach and aim to design "enabling" and inclusive environments that can respond to criteria and objectives not only of accessibility but also of comfort, well-being, usability, safety, sustainability, recognizability.
Areas of intervention:
- Urban spaces: cities, territories, places and services related to the Games.
- Mobility: the efficiency and operation of transport for the movement of athletes and their delegations.
- Tourism: the system of tourism promotion of the area, in terms of accommodation and catering.
- Information and communication: remote or on-site access to information/communications conveyed in paper or digital form.
- Experiences and services: access to and use of competitions and events by people with disabilities.
- Employment inclusion and volunteer recruitment: promotion of and employment inclusion for people with disabilities.
- Training and awareness: promotion of training and awareness on accessibility and inclusion of people with disabilities.
