WS9 AWS Services So Underrated They Almost Feel Like Cheating
The tools hiding in plain sight that can slash cloud costs, remove manual work, and make your architecture look suspiciously smart
A quick story before we start
A few years ago, I was debugging an AWS bill at 2:37 AM.
Not optimizing performance.
Not scaling traffic.
Just… figuring out why the bill jumped 3× for no visible reason.
Same EC2. Same traffic. Same code.
The culprit? A service I didn’t even know existed that could’ve replaced half my setup cheaper, faster, cleaner.
That night changed how I use AWS.
Since then, every time I design a system, I ask a slightly uncomfortable question:
“What am I over-engineering because I don’t know AWS well enough?”
This article is my answer to that question.
These are AWS services that feel illegal once you understand them not flashy, not hyped on Twitter, but absolute monsters for automation, cost-cutting, and performance.
Let’s get into it.
