🧵 The Misleading and Deceptive Salafi Slogan ‘Following the Quran & Sunnah Upon the Understanding of the Salaf’: A Reality Check Statements of Salafi Scholars Against the Salaf — Part 1

Abd al-Raḥmān al-Dimashqiyyah: I agree with the Prophet ﷺ and Al-Shafi’i disagrees with him “I declare al-Shāfiʿī mistaken—if what he intended is that innovation is of two kinds; I declare him mistaken in agreement with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.”
Al-Fawzan, one of the senior Salafi scholar, responds to acts of the Companions by equating them with the common folk and the ignorant He said: “There is no evidence for that. It was only done by some of the Companions as a matter of ijtihād. As for the Muṣḥaf,...
...it is not to be kissed, rather it should be respected, preserved, raised up, and used for recitation — that is the true right of the Muṣḥaf. But as for kissing it or raising it to the head — this is among the actions of the common folk and the ignorant (!!!)” [End of quote]
Ibn Taymiyyah said: “Many of the mujtahids of the Salaf and the Khalaf have said and done what is innovation (!!!), yet they did not know they were innovations; either because of weak ḥadīths they thought were authentic, or because of verses whose meaning they misunderstood”
Muqbil al-Wādiʿī: The Consensus (Ijmaʿ) of the Companions is Not a Proof!!! “If someone says: ‘The Companions agreed on this,’ the answer is: Consensus is not a proof. Rather, the proof is the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger ﷺ”
Al-Albani’s main student Ali Hasan al-Halabi: We are not bound to the understanding of Ibn Mas’ud nor anyone else; we follow our own understanding!! “Moreover, we are not bound to anyone’s understanding, whoever he may be—whether Ibn Masʿūd or someone else.”
“It is well known that it is not a condition for a jurist to be correct in every issue, especially if the apparent text contradicts his jurisprudence and understanding.
Moreover, we are not bound to the understanding of anyone, whoever they may be, whether Ibn Mas’ud or others. Rather, we act only upon the established text from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.”
‘Ā’iḍ al-Qarnī: Judge everyone by the Book and the Sunnah — even Abū Bakr, ʿUmar, ʿUthmān and ʿAlī
Ibn Bāz: Ibn ʿUmar had juristic opinions in which he opposed the Sunnah and are not to be agreed with “Ibn ʿUmar had juristic opinions in which he went against the Sunnah. Among them is that he used to wash the inside of his eyes — and this is against the Sunnah”
Ṣāliḥ Āl al-Shaykh: Interpreting the Kursī as Knowledge or as the Throne is Reported from Some of the Salaf — But It Is Wrong! “It has been reported from some of the Salaf, but it is wrong. For the Kursī is other than the Throne.”
You can’t have it both ways: judging the Salaf by the Qur’an and Sunnah while also understanding the Qur’an and Sunnah through the Salaf. If you don’t see the contradiction, there’s little I can do to help. 2/
You’ve shared a post that has no connection to the thread and doesn’t challenge or respond to it. On top of that, you haven’t shown me where I said al-Razi is a Mushabih… 3/
