I’m pretty sure most of us have gone through this phase at least once in our lives, wherein you like someone but feel constantly unsure. One day they’re warm, attentive, even affectionate. The next, they’re distant and hard to read. You find yourself overthinking everything, wondering if you imagined the connection.

You tell your friends the same story, some say, “They’re avoidant,” others say, “They’re just not into you.” And there you are, late at night, Googling signs, replaying conversations, trying to dissect the difference between the two. And what makes this such a painful emotional space is the ambiguity. The patterns overlap leaving you confused.

But if you look closely, there are differences. And once you see them, you can’t unsee them.
