Is making friends as an adult really that hard?
The universe is hilarious. While I have the worst luck in my romantic life, I have no issue making and maintaining friendships. I never have. It’s probably because my parents put me in a bunch of extracurricular activities as a kid. I played tons of sports, took dance classes, was a Girl Scout, went to summer camp, and had massive birthday party celebrations. I had plenty of practice making friends well into my teenage years. That’s probably why I have such longterm friends now.
I have friends I’ve known for 15, 20, 25+ years, but I also have new friends. There have been friendships that have come to a close, however I’m never in fear I won’t make a new one. Quite the contrast to my scarcity mindset when it comes to dating.
I’m seeing a phenomena on social media of women complaining about how hard it is to make friends. I’ve noticed something quite interesting about the women who express this.
They all say their only friend is their boyfriend.
