a quick disclaimer! it's quite obvious that the concept of yaoi is problematic as it's used to fetishize mlm/nblm/etc, and as such this gender system is used to "reclaim" the term or more accurately say, make a joke out of it. i indulge in yaoi/fujo.shi jokes myself but that's the thing! it's a joke. this gender is serious, but is connected to a joke.
