Disrespect to a NCO
As a NCO i corrected a Solider that is not in my unit and i also dont know what unit the Solider is in. When i corrected the Solider they told me to F off. What am i supposed to do in that kind of situation?
For context i corrected the Solider for walking and talking on their phone. When i said something to the Soldier, i was told to F off and the Soldier kept walking.

You could also see if they're on global with rank/name and your location.
Unless things changed, anyone can request access. I thought it would be the same but I put in a request for shits and giggles, and it got approved and I have access. That was a year or so ago, though. I think you need to be in a command/S1 position to see the actual readiness stats though.

I would suggest that this one instance itself isn't worth a lot of time or hassle. However it is likely a good example of that soldier's general attitude and they probably should learn the hard you do not tell an NCO, any NCO to fuck off.
Yeah, it’s one of those “behavior you allow, you condone” things. The Soldier did it because they knew there likely wouldn’t be any real consequences for it. And, unfortunately, they are right.
I mean, there's options.
You can detain and call the MP's, you can get their description and name/rank and call the MP's and not detain, you can look at their unit patch and their rank/name and go to their chain of command and explain the situation and ask they get some remedial training on customs and courtesies or some shit.
There's people that will say that you should stay in your lane, and only correct your own Soldiers.
There's people that will say that you should correct violations when you see them.
You're never going to make anybody happy with any answer you provide here.
If it's me, I make a polite correction. If I get a "fuck off", then I just ask them "Hey man, what do you have going on in your life where you think the right answer to somebody trying to fix you is to tell them to fuck off, especially an NCO" or something similar.
Who knows what they have going on. If they are still belligerent, then I'd report them or detain and report. If they're not, then listen to what they have to say. If they need help then you injected yourself into their situation and you provide it if you can.
Ultimately you develop a feel for these things, the idea is to gain compliance with the minimal amount of stress or drama. That Soldier knows better and is choosing to do their thing because nobody is correcting them.
Again, that's just me. I don't do shit anymore because I'm retired but I found that if you approach somebody and treat them with dignity and respect, and you know the regs and can cite what the issue is and where they can look it up if they don't know- you have an easier time with things.
The standard you walk past is the standard you accept.
My old CSM said something similiar..will never forget it; "Whenever you walk past a deficiency, you've created a new standard".
I keep seeing comments like "lock them up" "get their info" etc..but if he told you to fuck off, he ain't stopping for you to get his deets. Best you can really do is take solice in the fact that you were a steward to the profession and didn't create a new standard by saying nothing. If he's like that with you, he'll likely be that way again with someone else and all it takes is him doing it in ear shot of some CSM and he's fucked. It'll catch up to him. Be happy in your own integrity.
Allowing a soldier to get away with something this heinous is not being a steward to the profession.

When it’s a soldier in a different command I go with a “Hey, please don’t walk and talk on your phone in uniform”. I alter that as needed to correct whatever issue. I’ve never gotten a poor response from just being pleasant while correcting something.

How did you correct him? Did you say “hey fuck face get off your fucking phone.” Or “come on man, you know better.” It shouldn’t matter but it definitely helps paint a better picture.
I’m a SNCO and on Bragg I’ve seen some wild shit lol. Saw a dude with a Nike shiesty (ski mask) on waiting in line at the food court. It was the middle of summer, all I did was tap him on the arm and quietly say “brother you know you shouldn’t be wearing that.” He said “Roger sarnt” and just took it off.

I'd just let it go personally. If they act like that after getting told what to do they're probably not long for the army as it is.
Lol. This reminds of years ago there were 3 soldiers in the px parking lot, hands in pockets, no cover and this SNCO yelled over to them and corrected them and they told him to eat a bag of dicks. He locked them up and was walking over to them while asking for their unit information and they just took off..ran in different directions. Lol, he was furious but couldn't do shit about it. Lol, as I left the px, he was outside with the Mps. Lol
Sometimes you have to pick your battles and not let stupid shit get to you. You set the standard and did the right thing. He was either having a really shitty day and needed you to fuck off or he's an asshat and his attitude will catch up to him soon enough.

I was new to a unit on Jblm. Got put in barracks room with a chic from a random unit not even in the same battalion.
One Saturday morning I’m sleeping and someone banged on the door. It was a chic who demanded to know where my roommate was. I said I don’t know, I don’t even know her name. She just stood there and said fine and started to walk away. I said bitch as I shut the door and she quickly stopped it and demanded my name and unit. She then identified herself as a sergeant.
She ratted me out to my unit and I have a bad start for that. My psg literally wrote me off day 1. Luckily my squad leader saw through that bitch Sgt.
