Not meaning to be snarky here but british trans people have been reporting on this for ages and it's only really making a splash in the US now that erin reported it. I'm glad that she's taking on the morally necessary international perspective but we've been pretty fucking loud about it. I just sometimes feel like americans don't appreciate that everyone else keeps up with your news out of necessity but the reverse is much rarer.
Trans Kids Deserve Better, the under 18s direct action group that do legitimately more than the vast majority of cis or trans adults, vandalised the NHS headquarters with bloody handprints and "release the trans suicide youth report" because they knew just from being trans kids that there was a massive spike that wasn't coming through in the numbers
TransActual and the Good Law Project have reported on the suicides quite extensively, doing FOIA requests and doggedly pursuing the people responsible who have repeatedly tried to cover it up with no real answers for even the incomplete data that could be accessed which disproved the claim of no rise in suicides. I don't remember which weeks it was now because it was so long ago but on Red Planet we've talked about this several times and keep an ongoing update on Wes Streeting's war on trans kids.
There has been extensive reporting in outlets even as liberal and wet as Pink News about clinic wait times, bolstered by the data accessing and reporting by QueerAF , WhatTheTrans and others.
Even Erin's article is largely just repeating what the Good Law Project's press release said. She hasn't done anything wrong there to be clear, it's just the lack of people broadly paying attention to this story has been a little frustrating is all. The UK getting treated like the 51st state is ingrained by reactionary political currents like the anti-trans movement and it needs to be called out very loudly especially when children are literally being killed by it.

Hi. Yeah I already know this, but as I'm guessing this is fairly new for you and probably feels like the biggest thing in the world, I want to let you know it isn't as big a deal as it feels like.
You just have to take personal responsibility for anything that you really need to actually confront and work on it, and for the most part work on building a life worth living. Please be brutally honest with yourself and with the people who choose to stick by you and understand it's the only way to get better. DBT worked for me. Someone gave me the advice to change up my schedule as much as possible just to shake up all my associations and get used to the idea of building a new life, and I think that's very helpful advice. They took it as intensely as changing what time of day they showered.
People haven't decided you're evil, they've decided you're socially inconvenient and not worth the effort to overcome their discomfort. Some of them on a long enough timescale will decide that they want to be friends again, if you seem stable and like you're getting on with things and not just stewing and feeling sorry for yourself. Many will not.
It's horrible and desperately, crushingly sad and lonely, and it's one of the worst things that we can do to people socially and I feel wretched that I ever participated in any capacity in doing it to anyone else, even my abuser, and it's utterly horrifying that this social dynamic exists that means it will happen so often to very unwell trans women specifically, who are already so vulnerable, but until people generally free themselves of a punitive mindset and understand where conflict and harm comes from, it will keep happening.

We now know ICE is extensively using Palantir software -- ELITE -- in their field operations. Just as we know Palantir's Gotham software was used extensively in the Gaza genocide to generate "hundreds" of targets per day, where, previously, Israeli intelligence would generate "ten in a year." This, too, was put to use in the so-called Global War on Terror. Honed by the brutalization of the Middle East. CEO Alex Karp has identified Palantir's role in expediting the "kill chain," the decision-making process to identify targets.
This software is being fed more information than you can imagine. Any video, any photograph, any post that has been put on any social media website has been scraped up -- legally or not -- and fed into this system. Flock cameras have been placed in many, many cities across the US to track the movement of individuals via their vehicles. Ring cameras are now a part of the Flock network. ICE is using Flock's system.
Ice agents have said there is a database of protestors being generated. For years, Trump has talked about targeting the "enemy within." His administration has declared the amorphous "Antifa" to be a formal terrorist organization, opening the gates to the full might of post-9/11 counter-terror laws which empower the US government to, essentially, do whatever they want to anyone labeled "terrorist."
Anonymize yourself as much as you can. Exposure is vulnerability. Threats will be taken seriously. Once attention has been drawn to yourself, it has been drawn to everyone around you. Admit to nothing. Camouflage yourself. Feed the system as little information as possible. Generate deniability. Do not incriminate yourself. Do not make yourself or your people into targets.
