For the Summer Games, athletes representing Lebanon first competed at the Games of the XIV Olympiad London 1948, taking part there in the sports of boxing, shooting and wrestling. At the Games of the XV Olympiad Helsinki 1952, the first athletes representing Lebanon to win Olympic medals of any colour did so on the same day, capturing a silver in the men’s wrestling Greco-Roman bantamweight event and a bronze in the men’s wrestling Greco-Roman welterweight event. For the Winter Games, one athlete representing Lebanon first competed at the V Olympic Winter Games St. Moritz 1948, taking part in the discipline of alpine skiing. No athlete representing Lebanon has yet won an Olympic Winter Games medal of any colour.

At Beijing 2022, Lebanon was represented by three Winter Games debutants. Alpine skier Cesar Arnouk achieved the highest result, finishing the men's slalom in 38th place, while Manon Ouaiss finished the women's slalom in 46th place. Both Arnouk and Ouaiss failed to finish their respective men's and women's giant slalom races. In cross-country skiing, 19-year-old Elie Tawk finished 92nd in the men's 15km classic and 87th in the men's sprint freestyle event.
