ROY KEANE has spoken out after the sad loss of his mother Marie on Friday.
The 79-year-old passed away peacefully at Marymount University Hospital and Hospice in Cork.
Manchester United legend Keane, 54, uploaded a picture of himself smiling alongside his mum to his 2.4 million Instagram followers on Saturday.
He captioned the post with the heartfelt message: “You’ll always be the boss.”
Fans and former team-mates rushed to the comments to offer their condolences.
David Beckham, Gary Neville and Robbie Keane were among the stars to give their well wishes in the replies.

Fans also chimed in with their sincere messages to the former Republic of Ireland international.
One wrote: “She gave you a Mindset the world couldn’t break.. Strong mums raise even stronger souls. She’d be so proud Roy.”
Per a rip.ie post, Marie’s funeral is scheduled for Tuesday March 31, at the Church of the Resurrection, Farranree.
She will then be laid to rest at St Catherine’s Cemetery in Kilcully.

Keane shared his emotional connection to his mum last year when he choked up while showing around a photo of himself with his parents on Stick to Football.
The Sky Sports pundit shared around the picture of him, Marie and his father Maurice – who passed away in 2019 – before getting emotional.
He explained: “You’re on about family, the ups and downs of football. But when you see your family at Wembley after you’ve won a big game…”
The star then trailed off before taking a moment to compose himself, surrounded by his co-hosts and friends Ian Wright, Neville, Jamie Carragher and Jill Scott.
Mark Pougatch led tributes to Marie during ITV‘s coverage of England‘s friendly with Uruguay on Friday.
He was hosting alongside Wright and Emma Hayes when he said: “Everyone here and all of us at ITV sends our condolences to Roy and his family on the sad passing of his mother Marie.
“All of our thoughts are with the Keane family this evening.”
