For the Summer Games, one athlete representing 'Turkey', at that time, first competed at the Games of the IV Olympiad London 1908, taking part there in the discipline of artistic gymnastics. At the Games of the XI Olympiad Berlin 1936 Ahmet Kireççi became the first athlete representing 'Turkey', at that time, to win an Olympic medal of any colour, capturing bronze in the men’s wrestling freestyle middleweight event. At the same Games edition, Yasar Erkan became the first athlete representing 'Turkey', at that time, to win an Olympic gold medal, competing in the men’s wrestling Greco-Roman featherweight event. For the Winter Games, athletes representing 'Turkey', at that time, first competed at the IV Olympic Winter Games Garmisch-Partenkirchen 1936, taking part there in the disciplines of alpine skiing and cross country skiing. No athlete representing Türkiye has yet won an Olympic Winter Games medal of any colour.

At Beijing 2022, Türkiye took part in Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, and for the first time at a Winter Games, short track speed skating. In the short track rink, Furkan Akar contested one event, the men's 1000m, and finished sixth to record Türkiye's highest finish in any event in the NOC's Winter Games history. In ski jumping, Arda Ipcioglu finished 36th and 40th in the men's individual normal hill and men's individual large hill events, respectively, bettering his performances in both events at PyeongChang 2018. In Alpine skiing, Berkin Usta posted the highest finish for Türkiye in Beijing with 43rd in men's giant slalom, while in cross-country skiing Yusuf Emre Firat finished 80th in the men's sprint free.
